About Mychal Eagleson, CFP®, ChSNC®, AAMS®
Welcome! I’m Mychal Eagleson and I’m the President of An Exceptional Life Financial. We specialize in working with teachers and are dedicated to serving as your partner and advocate in planning for your future. Teachers have unique needs when it comes to their finances and we thrive on using our knowledge and experience to navigate through them and help bring all the different aspects together, so you can make the most of your money. My wife is a teacher, so working through the intricacies of pensions, 403(b)s, student loan forgiveness programs, and everything else teacher finance is not only what I do professionally, but also very important on a personal level too.
My passion is meeting you where you are and making an impact by helping you get to where you’d like to be, regardless of whether you’re a first year, mid-career, or veteran educator, and no matter where you currently are financially. Everyone deserves a fiduciary financial planner they can trust to help them address their concerns, demystify the complexity, and ensure their finances are personally tailored to their needs.
I’ve been in the financial services industry my entire career and have provided financial planning and investment management to clients across the country. Before founding An Exceptional Life Financial, I worked for several financial firms, including two Fortune 500 companies and a dedicated family office. I believe in continually learning and improving and throughout my career have studied financial planning extensively.
I earned the Accredited Asset Management Specialist designation from the College for Financial Planning in 2011, a Bachelor of Science in Management from Indiana Wesleyan University in 2012, a Certificate in Financial Planning from New York University and the Certified Financial Planner™ designation in 2013, completed the Financial Planning Association Residency program in 2016, and the Chartered Special Needs Consultant designation from the American College of Financial Services in 2017. I also currently serve on the Board of the Financial Planning Association of Greater Indiana as the President-Elect and the Director of Programming.
My wife Emily and I reside in Pike Township on the northwest side of Indianapolis. We are both passionate supporters of the local school district where she works in special education. At the secondary level, I work with students in Pike High School’s Business & IT Department on various occasions annually, as well as serving on the board of directors of the Pike Township Educational Foundation, which serves to enhance the educational experiences and opportunities for students throughout the district. We both also proudly support the work of WFYI Public Media, the the Eagle Creek Park Foundation, Keep Indianapolis Beautiful, and Gleaners Food Bank.
In my spare time, I enjoy staying active through Taekwondo, and hiking with our two dogs (Maddie & Jax), reading, and projects around the house. I’m also a major foodie and am always excited to try a new place to eat or check out a new micro brew.
Why I do what I do…
“My definition of success is that every person I come in contact with finds a better path… that I can say something or do something that gets them thinking about where they want to go and how they want to get there. It’s the impact I hope to make on people” – Deena Katz
