About Justin Porter, CFP®, CPA, J.D.
Justin started Porter Wealth Management, LLC (PWM) in February of 2018. Prior to PWM, he served as the lead advisor for 2 boutique RIA’s in Chattanooga, TN. His primary focus was helping business owners, professionals and retirees plan for their financial future. Before joining an RIA, he worked with Wells Fargo Private Bank as an expert on tax and estate planning to help ultra-high net worth clients ($10mm+ net worth) create succession plans for their business and transfer their wealth efficiently to the next generation.
At the start of his career, he worked in the tax department of an Atlanta based CPA firm. There he provided successful professionals and business owners with tax compliance and planning. He later worked at a boutique law firm in Dunwoody, GA that specialized in estate planning and corporate law. What he found he enjoyed most is big picture, proactive planning for families. He also saw that most financial advisors weren’t helping their clients connect their retirement plan to their tax, estate planning or asset protection strategies. Now he leverages his accounting and legal knowledge to help families connect the dots in their financial life.
Justin earned his undergraduate degree from Georgia Tech, College of Management. He went on to study at Georgia State, College of Law where he earned his Juris Doctorate (J.D.). He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Certified Financial Planner TM (CFP®).
When he isn’t working, Justin enjoys gardening, soccer, reading, hunting, hiking, and spending time with his wife and son. He also has pipe dreams of building a cabin during retirement in the style of Richard Proenneke.
