About Ed Leach, CFP®, MBA
Why Financial Planning?
To empower you to make confident financial decisions so you can focus on what matters most to you. It is all about quality over quantity, and if I can solve all of the uncertainties surrounding your financial life – you will be able to be even more focused on living the life you want to live!
This is why we, at HIGHLAND Financial Advisors, LLC, started Upswing Advisor – to provide a platform for young professionals, new families, and young entrepreneurs to have access to comprehensive financial advice.
I started my career at Highland working as a support planner in 2010 – building financial plans, analyzing investment portfolios, and helping our firm’s advisors implement client recommendations. I loved the work I was doing so much I immediately enrolled in the CFP® program at Fairleigh Dickinson University and passed my CFP® exam in the fall of 2011.
Not thinking my CFP® and undergrad degree in Finance and Economics from Ramapo College was enough – I went out and completed my MBA at Montclair State University. It was during this time that I got curious and decided to dive into the corporate finance world. Needless to say it was terrible and I was back in financial planning after 5 short months. As fate would have it, I was fortunate to have the opportunity to get back to work where it all started, HIGHLAND Financial Advisors, LLC. Here I am today working as the Director of Financial Planning for HIGHLAND and leading the team at Upswing Advisor.
I live in Waldwick, NJ with my wife Alyssa who is a CPA. We were married in 2013 in Long Beach Island, NJ, where we try and spend as much of our free time as possible with our families. We both love to travel to any place with a beach, working out in the morning, trying new places to eat (if you know a good place for donuts let us know!), and going for rides on our SeaDoo in Barnegat Bay.
Alyssa and I also volunteer with Alzheimer’s New Jersey, me serving as Treasurer of their Board of Directors and Alyssa serving on the Paramus Walk to Fight Alzheimer’s Committee.
I am also a die-hard New York Jets fan – so I understand what it is like to lose. But I have faith I will one day see them win a Super Bowl, the cost of the tickets are already built into my financial plan!
