Donita Baze, CFP® Alphemita Financial Services

About Donita Baze, CFP®

I’m DeeDee Baze, CFP® . I am the owner and founder of Alphemita Financial Services. I decided to open this firm for multiple reasons.

My first career was a middle math school teacher in Stillwater, OK where my husband was an Elementary Principal. We met very young in life and both had a love of the outdoors. I just liked being outside where he liked getting out in the woods. As an Eagle Scout he had so much to teach me. He introduced me to camping and hiking, local wildlife, and I was immediately hooked. We raised two amazing daughters who love the outdoors as well. They never knew the joys of Disney Land but they sure knew what it was like to spot a deer, coyote, elk, moose, bear, and even a wolf in the wild. They knew the smells of a campfire at night, the zipper on a tent closing separating you from the outside world, and the solitude of a backcountry trail.

I left teaching in 2007 to go into the financial services industry. Not the best timing, but I did survive the stock market crash of 2008 and stayed around. I didn’t know right away that I wanted to become a financial planner, but each experience I had lead me closer to this path. I knew that numbers and people were “my thing”. I started with insurance products, which lead to investing. It didn’t all come together until I met a woman in 2012 who was a financial planner. She shaped my vision of where I wanted my career to go. I admired her knowledge, her ethics, and her strength to own her own firm. I ended up working for her until we relocated to Colorado in 2015. My husband retired from being a principal, and we knew it was the right time to move. He started volunteering in Rocky Mountain National Park and eventually was hired as a Park Ranger. I worked as a Financial Advisor at a local credit union. Right now I could not be happier; this is EXACTLY what we both want to do in life. I wanted to be a financial planner and he wanted to be a park ranger.

In 2020 our world was turned upside down, like everyone else, and I took the opportunity to really evaluate what I wanted in life. It was then that I made the decision to build my own firm where I could work with a small group of clients and do my part helping preserve this beautiful planet of ours. Going independent and working virtually would drastically reduce my own carbon footprint. I would stop commuting two hours a day, use an electronic filing system, as well as electronic notes to reduce paper consumption. My business cards and any random paper product I needed, I committed to buying only recycled paper. I know I have a ways to go, but I’m trying to do little things that in the long run will at least help our planet some.

The other factor involves quality of life. In my previous jobs I have worked with everyone who has a need. Not all of those people were nice. Not all of them saw the need to be kinder to our planet. When I started this firm I made the decision to work with like-minded individuals who will collaborate with me in an Earth Friendly way. I want people who are kind to others. People who believe in human rights.

Life is just too short and I’m no spring chicken. I have made the decision to only work with people who are kind. Kind to me, kind to other people, kind to animals, kind to our planet, and kind to themselves. Secondly people who are environmentally conscious, you don’t need to be at the activist level, but you need to care about the earth. I want people who want to do what they can to protect and preserve our planet.

I thank you for taking your time to read this. If you feel you would be a good fit for our firm, please check out our services.
