About Brian Huckstep, CFP®, CFA

Experience:
Brian has been in the investment industry for 29 years, starting in commercial banking at Bank One (now Chase), moving to plan sponsor (401k and pension) auditing and accounting at Northern Trust, and working as a portfolio manager for fifteen years at Ibbotson Associates / Morningstar. Brian has extensive experience managing multi-asset investment portfolios, including Target Risk, Target Date, ESG, Alternative, High Income, Strategic, and Tactical strategies. Asset allocation, mutual fund selection and ETF selection are areas interest and of expertise. Past investment consulting clients include; TD Ameritrade, iShares, ETrade, AllianceBernstein, Pioneer, VOYA (was ING), Hartford, Old Mutual, Touchstone, Primerica, Wells Fargo, Pacific Life, and AIG.

Education and Credentials:
Brian earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Michigan, majoring in economics. He later attended the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business to earn an MBA in finance, strategy, and entrepreneurship. He earned the CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) designation in 2004 and the CFP designation in 2021.

Interests:
Brian lives in Oak Park with his wife, Tisha and their children Haley and Macey. Brian enjoys working with investments, but also enjoys working with people. When his previous large corporate employer decided to exit the investment consulting business, he decided not to join another large investment shop, but to start Huckstep Asset Management, where he can continue to spend most of his time working with interesting investments but also enjoy working with people to build successful financial strategies. The Huckstep family bought an RV a few years ago to go on a Yellowstone vacation and have enjoyed traveling around the country for vacations each summer since.
