I help parents take control of planning and investing, so they can balance raising kids, caring for aging parents and building financial independence.

My name is Glenn Brown. I’m a Certified Financial Planner™, Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor, portfolio manager and founder of PlanDynamic, LLC. I provide fee-only fiduciary advice, investment management and financial planning to help my clients gain clarity, make timely decisions and be confident in executing their vision of independence.

I’ve worked in wealth management for 25 years, my previous role was Managing Director, Portfolio Strategist for a multi-billion dollar ETF investment manager. In 2017, I founded PlanDynamic to return working directly with motivated people on all aspects of their financial lives. Rather than help people retire at 65, I believe financial independence should be my client’s focus. It is built in stages, tailored to personal values and provides new choices along the journey.

When we work together, we leverage adaptable technology to make your plan dynamic. You save time by collaborating online, letting me lead scenarios and educating you on impact. Each of us can update actions taken, plus you see your goals, financials and investments evolve as one in real-time.

Beyond experience and education, how I run PlanDynamnic is greatly influenced by my family. As a ‘Sandwicher’ raising two young daughters and caring for aging parents with my wife Karina, I understand the challenges of finding time, balance and making smart decisions to benefit all — now and in the future.

About Wendy Marsden, CFP®, CPA

Wendy Marsden, CPA, CFP®, RIA, MSA began as a tax accountant in 1992. In 2001 she opened Tea & Taxes as a CPA tax practice from a home office while she raised her children. She developed a reputation as a thorough tax accountant who looked at the whole financial picture, often offering financial advising to her clients as well as tax preparation. Over time she added comprehensive financial planning services to her tax practice.

She changed the company name to ProsperiTea Planning when she added investment advising services. This completed the journey to become a deeply integrated holistic financial advisor. She combines tax planning and preparation, comprehensive planning, and investment advising into one service offered under an annual retainer to a few dozen clients.

Ms. Marsden’s graduate degree is from the Isenberg School of Management at UMass/Amherst. She participated in their prestigious two-year MBA program, but took all her electives in Accounting and graduated with the Masters of Science in Accounting rather than the Masters of Business Administration. She continued her education with independent coursework in financial planning.

Honors included graduating first in her class with her MS in Accounting, passing both the CPA and CFP® exams on the first sitting, and winning the Wall Street Journal Student Achievement Award for Outstanding Academic Achievement. Her bachelors degree is in Physics & Astronomy, with a minor in Computer Science, from Mount Holyoke College, class of ’86. She is a member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood.

Wendy is assisted from time to time by Jennifer Chabott and sometimes Wendy’s adult son Sammy or her husband Ben. Somewhat less helpful, we also have River, our wonderful office dog. River loves her ball and her belly rubbed. If you uncomfortable with dogs, please let us know and we will put her in her crate before you come.

We are a Green Business and strive to reduce our carbon footprint. We use a paperless filing system, and your copies will be printed double-sided. Virtual meetings using Google Hangout or Skype cut down on commuting costs. In addition, we do a carbon offset each year.

Financial Planning
Each client gets our comprehensive financial planning offering within the context of their unique situation. We help our clients organize their financial picture, so they are aware of where they stand (Point A) and where their financial decisions are leading them (Point B). The space afforded to dream about the future without expectations allows clients to orient in the direction that best suits their vision. We then help clients expand their horizon by setting the frame for the future they want to experience (Point C).

Investment Management
Each client has portfolios structured in service of the life they want to experience. Using an evidence-based approach, we provide clients the building blocks necessary to meet their short-term commitments while also bridging the gap between their current resources and what will be necessary to secure opportunities in the mid and long-term. We support clients’ vision for their future by aiming for market returns over the long-term while adding additional value by doing so as efficiently as possible.

Tax Planning and Return Prep
In addition to tax preparation services, each client gets one or two tax projections each year based on need. The tax projections increase resource efficiency as clients understand how much they should allocate toward tax payments with enough notice to plan accordingly. Proactively running projections also identifies opportunities to take advantage of tax law and increases our clients’ after-tax wealth over time.

I was hanging on every word…

It was a beautiful spring day in Palo Alto in 1996.

My Modern Portfolio Theory professor – Nobel laureate Bill Sharpe – was explaining the “illusion of stock picking skill” and the idea that stock pickers as a group lose big to the stock market as a whole.

I remember closing my eyes and taking it all in. Was it possible that a several hundred billion dollar industry was just harming investors? That the whole thing was built on an illusion? Even a lie?

I was just entranced.

(It turns out I caught a brief glimpse of my true calling that day, but it would be another 17 years before I actually took concrete steps to become a financial advisor.)

But then the class ended, and I went back to the business of graduating from Stanford Business School. I headed back to consulting for a couple years, and then co-founded a dot com.

But in 2003, I ended up in awkward position. An awkward position that ultimately lead me to my true calling.

I had accepted the position of Publisher & Chief Marketing Officer at The Motley Fool, the personal finance website. I loved the people, and rocked the job.

But something was wrong.

You see, one of my responsibilities was to convince millions of investors that we had superior stock picking skills.

There was just one problem with this – I didn’t believe it.
Beliefs are a funny thing. I came to believe back in 1996 that stock picking skills are an illusion, and that belief had just stuck.

And I couldn’t unstick it.

I eventually left The Fool with mixed feelings. I was proud of our commercial success, and my role in that. But I also felt like I had betrayed my beliefs. It wasn’t a good feeling.

I tried jobs in other industries, but something kept pulling me back to investing and personal finance.

And then it finally hit me.

I knew what I was meant to do, and I set out to form my financial advisory firm, Clark Asset Management, LLC.

Now I get to help people directly, and do it in a way that’s 100% consistent with my beliefs. I get to leverage a career’s worth of skills in financial planning and analysis, problem solving and client communication.

And I get to do my part to help transform an often shady industry into a helping profession.

It’s awesome.

Michael has nearly a decade of experience building comprehensive financial plans for families. Prior to starting Solari Financial, he worked with an independent firm focusing on high net worth individuals. Over time Michael began to carve out a niche working with physicians and engineers. In 2013, he established a fee-only financial planning firm, building it from scratch. From the beginning his focus has always been on those accumulating wealth.
