Tyler Smith, CFP®

About Tyler Smith, CFP®

I founded BBK Wealth in May of 2020 in order to provide customized financial planning and investment management services to individuals and families regardless of their net worth, income, or investable assets.

That’s correct – May of 2020. The timing could not have been worse. I realized building this company that relationships have never been more important. I strive to provide cutting edge technology for those interested. I also will strive to provide cutting edge dialogue for those happy with a good meal and conversation.

I currently work with professors, teachers, doctors, business owners, and retirees. I care about my clients and independently understand their specific financial challenges.

My services are customized to my clients’ needs. This can include incorporating socially responsible investments, digital assets, real assets or alternatives into client portfolios. I am an advisor who listens, solicits your input, shares my thinking, and tests ideas against what you are willing and able to do, so we can develop a lasting and beneficial relationship.

I am a Certified Financial Planner™ professional with a finance degree from Notre Dame. I am an Eagle Scout. I also am a proud graduate of the Alliance for Catholic Education program. I was built for this – undergrad in finance, masters in education.

My commitment to you means more than any of that – If it makes sense to work together we will.

About Richard C. Salmen, CFP®, CFA, EA

An experienced fee-only financial planner and servant leader, I guide a team that helps hundreds of families across the United States fulfill their dream of reaching financial independence. Our focus on middle and upper-middle class clients allows us to provide holistic, fiduciary advice on a fee-only basis to those who previously did not realize such a service existed for them. By leading our clients through understandable systems and processes we coach them to use money more effectively to realize a satisfying and fulfilling life. We strive to be a vital resource providing clarity and focus in our clients’ complex financial lives.

My passion for leadership led to a natural transition to serving the financial planning profession. During my tenure on the Financial Planning Association (FPA) national board I served as national President in 2009. The financial crisis that emerged during my service set the stage for the next stage of my volunteer leadership journey. FPA, NAPFA and the CFP Board started formally working together to advance the financial planning profession. The Financial Planning Coalition that resulted has been a powerful voice for protecting the public.

I served as the 2018 Chair of the CFP® Board national board of directors. Our mission to benefit the public by granting the CFP® certification and upholding it as the recognized standard of excellence for competent and ethical financial planning resonated deeply with me.

Since I live our message of Planning For Some Serious Freedom, I spend a few days per month enjoying my side gig which is flying Cessna Citation Jets as a professional pilot. Some of my free time is spent at my vacation home on the Missouri River in northeast Nebraska water skiing with my children. And, if you want to talk sports cars and/or motorcycles feel free to reach out.

About Chris Hansen, CFP®

My name is Chris Hansen, and I am a Fee-Only CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™.

In 2016, my son graduated from the University of Cincinnati Medical School and is now in Ann Arbor, Michigan to become a Neurologist. Working with him and some of his fellow graduates made me realize that new doctors have nowhere to turn when trying to understand and find answers to the complex financial issues they are facing. Most of the information available on the internet is either incomplete, wrong, or an attempt to sell products or advertising. I will do my best to produce a series of articles that will help you cut through the garbage and find the information you need.

Justin Castelli, CFP®

About Justin Castelli, CFP®

My name is Justin Castelli, and I am a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional. I’m also the founder of RLS Wealth Management, which was started in 2015 with the goal of providing financial planning for not only my Baby Boomer clients but also my peers. Rather than only working with clients on an assets under management (AUM) basis, I work with young professionals and entrepreneurs through a monthly subscription model.

Prior to my career as a financial advisor, I attended Franklin College, where I played basketball for four years. I graduated in the spring of 2004 with a degree in Economics, and then set out to help people reach their financial goals. As many do, I began my career as a financial advisor with a large insurance company, and eventually left to work for an even larger insurer helping teachers with their retirement plans. It was during this time I obtained my CFP®; I also learned a lot about what is wrong with the financial services industry. I left the corporate financial planning world after feeling constrained by its limitations, and I joined a small independent firm in Indianapolis. After two years of turning great people away due to firm asset requirements, I started RLS Wealth Management, and I wish I would have done it sooner!

I am also the author of the blog “All About Your Benjamins”, where I write about a variety of financial topics. My hope for my blog is to educate my readers and to get them to think.

On a personal note, I have been married to my wife Angela since 2006, and we have three young boys, Roman, Leo and Silas. We play a lot of basketball, naturally as Hoosiers, at our house, but since we’ve had the boys, I’ve had to sharpen my football, soccer and baseball skills. We are also a CrossFit family, and I am the stereotypical CrossFitter who will talk all day about workouts–you’ve been warned. During the few quiet moments at home, I can be found reading, listening to music, or helping my wife with her small business, an all-boys boutique called Roman and Leo.
