About Leighann Miko, CFP®, RLP

I believe financial guidance should be equally accessible to all, but this is rarely the case in the traditional world of financial planning. I’m here to change that. Like my company name suggests, I founded Equalis Financial to serve underserved communities like LGBTQ+ creatives and other thoughtfully ambitious professionals. My “why” is to help others create the financially secure life I never thought I’d have after growing up in a financial volatile environment.

Financial stability isn’t something you hope for; it’s something you plan for. As a creative working in a volatile industry, having the right financial plan is essential. It can act as a strong anchor in financially uncertain times, but only if the plan is uniquely built for you. At Equalis Financial, we’re here to help.

-Financial Planning-
To get where you want to go, you’ll need a custom roadmap that’s built strategically around your goals. We take a human-centered approach to financial planning, focusing more on you than your money. In this process, we will help you realign your financial mindsets and habits with your long-term vision, resulting in a more financially secure future.

-Business Management-
If you are looking to outsource the day-to-day operations of your business, we are here to help. These related services—including tax preparation and planning, payroll processing, and monthly bookkeeping—are available exclusively to our financial planning clients.

-Investment Management-
As an investor, you have the ability to effectively “put your money where your mouth is” by investing in social causes you believe in. From environment conservation to improving the gender pay gap to reducing racial inequality, we will customize and manage your portfolio with a carefully planned investment strategy while maintaining the direction and discipline you need to reach your goals.

If any of this resonates with you, let’s chat. The first meeting is on us. There’s no cost and no pressure, just a conversation to see if we’re a good match.

Will Steinberger, CFP®

About Will Steinberger, CFP®

I founded Think Different Financial Planning to help people in tech manage their money.

During my wealth management career, I’ve developed an expertise specific to the finances of Silicon Valley employees who work at publicly-traded technology companies. I started my own firm to provide that specialized knowledge for a transparent and flat fee.

My number one priority is to provide assurance to my clients that their finances are professionally managed and that they are moving towards their financial goals.

I graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration with a Concentration in Finance from San Jose State University. After college I earned my Certified Financial Planner designation while working at Raub Brock Capital Management, a Registered Investment Advisor based in Larkspur, California, before joining Opes Wealth Management in Menlo Park, California.

I was born and raised in Palo Alto, California, and I love the Bay Area. I volunteer as a financial coach for West Valley Community Services, a non-profit based in Cupertino, CA. I’m a lifelong Warriors and Niners fan, avid reader, podcast listener, and workout junkie. I live in Redwood City, California, with my wife, Helene, and our St. Bernard, Winnie.

About Susan Soesbe, CFP®, EA

Susan got her professional start in the Sacramento area when she obtained her MBA from UC Davis in Finance and Accounting, joining first Deloitte & Touche then Hewlett Packard. After many years in corporate finance, and wanting a more personal and hands-on professional environment, she joined a financial planning firm in Davis at its inception in 2006. As an ideal resource for clients, she decisively helped to grow this small company into a local powerhouse.

Susan combines a focus on client service and effective communication with advanced analytical skills to help clients move closer to their goals. As a financial planner and IRS enrolled agent, she incorporates tax planning into comprehensive financial planning and investment management.

Susan’s passion for helping others achieve financial freedom is fueled by family experience. She spent many hours assisting her widowed grandmother with financial issues and investments, which left Susan with a clear sense of the need for planning and an awareness of the personal satisfaction she feels when helping others. She finds it especially gratifying to work with women experiencing a life transition, helping them make the informed decisions necessary to better their lives now and in the future.

In her free time, Susan enjoys camping, hiking, and bicycling. Some of her favorite local camping excursions have included trips to the Serene Lakes region and the beautiful peace of the Gerle Creek area.

Joshua Escalante Troesh, CFP®, MBA

About Joshua Escalante Troesh, CFP®, MBA

Joshua is a Tenured Professor of Business who works with people across the country on their finances. He has over 20 years of financial services experience including as a credit union executive and a partner in an independent tech stock research firm during the late 90s. Joshua has been quoted in Forbes, Consumer Reports, CNBC, US News & World Report, and many other media.

Joshua works with all types of people, but he does specialize in helping people navigate two of the great adventures in life: growing a business and building a family. Through comprehensive financial planning, he guides business owners, young professionals, and other clients toward living their great life, both now and in the future.

From Joshua:
I believe financial planning should be a profession rather than an industry – that advisors should act more like doctors than car salesmen. When you go to a doctor, you expect the best diagnosis for your health, not to be sold a product. The same should be true of your financial planner.

Before I began my journey to becoming a financial advisor, I wanted to make sure I would be entering a profession. Teaching is a profession because it is dedicated to improving the lives of the students, not enriching the professors. Sadly, what I saw in much of financial planning was an industry that created products and hired sales representatives to push the products. But I also saw a noble version of financial planning as a service profession where a trusted advisor helped guide clients toward their life goals.

I take an integrated approach that considers your entire financial picture. Planning goes beyond investments and retirement to incorporate cash flow analysis, tax planning, risk management, business advising, career development, debt management, estate planning, and more.

I view money as a tool to help you achieve your great life, both now and in the future. I begin by understanding your life goals and then develop your plan to help you achieve them. Every plan and every recommendation is designed with one goal in mind: to get you to your goals.

Aaron Agte, CFP®

About Aaron Agte, CFP®

I specialize in helping families make better financial decisions related to stock options and RSUs.

I know we’re saving enough for retirement in 401k’s, but my wife and I still have serious conversations about how to use her company stock to help live the life we want. Our issues require significant financial planning that firms focused on AUM can’t help with.

In my free time, I coach my three kids sports teams, play softball, golf, ski in Incline Village, and work on the NYTimes Crossword puzzle with my wife, Jessica. If you ever see me out and about, I’m the guy wearing something UCLA, Chargers, Padres, or Warriors.

Tara Unverzagt, CFP®, MBA

About Tara Unverzagt, CFP®, MBA, CFT-I, CTEC, RTRP registered tax preparer

South Bay Financial Partners was founded by Tara Unverzagt, who first explored financial planning as a young girl growing up with a mom who became a financial planner in the 1970s before the career even existed. Tara follows her mother in breaking new ground by helping expand the future of financial advice with the Financial Therapy Association. Dealing not just with the numbers but also the fear, shame, anxiety behind the numbers that prevent you from being your best.

Stuart, our Assistant Advisor, is Spanish speaking and a first-generation college graduate in his family. He brings important knowledge and experience to our team.

“We believe it’s your day to day decisions that make the difference in achieving financial success or not.” – South Bay Financial Partners team

Tara has been working in financial planning, investment advice, and tax preparation for over 25 years. She and the South Bay Financial Planning team are excited to help young adults who are just starting their working careers and in a couple’s relationship, set up a strong foundation in making money decisions. Many of our clients are couples with one freelancer navigating a new business launch.

Your finances should support your life and not the other way around. You should have a life plan that includes your values and helps you live by them without shame, fear, anxiety, or depression. Your budget should tell your story.

We’re not afraid to look at the emotional side of money decisions to make sure your journey is emotionally satisfying in addition to calculating the numbers. This can’t be done in a quick one or two-hour meeting. We go on a journey with you that we call Your Amazing Life.

Michael Izbotsky, CFP®

About Michael Izbotsky, CFP®

Hey! I’m Michael Izbotsky, CFP®, Founder and Owner of our firm, From Planning to Living LLC. I wanted to create a financial planning firm that caters to people like me: those who understand the true value of time. Gone are the days of working the traditional 9 – 5 and being confined to the hours on the clock. Whether despite this or because of this, our days seem to be busier than ever before. So, what is it that you’re doing with your time? Or I should ask, what would you rather be doing with your time?

I created FPL to help people live their best lives and create the futures they actually want for themselves—not the stereotypical retirement after 40 years at a company you only “kind of” like. As our saying goes, “We handle the planning so you can get to living.” We handle the planning so you can spend your time doing what you love and stress less about what needs to get done or how to get it done. Why wait until you’re 65 to start living?

Quick Facts About Me:

-Friends and family make me happiest
-Coffee, good books, Netflix Originals, and podcasts get me through each day
-Camping, traveling, and exploring keep me rejuvenated and feeling free
-B.S. in Statistics with an emphasis in Actuarial Science from San Diego State University
