Like my company name suggests, I founded Equalis Financial to serve underserved communities like LGBTQ+ creatives and other thoughtfully ambitious professionals. My “why” is to help others create the financially secure life I never thought I’d have after growing up in a financial volatile environment.

Financial stability isn’t something you hope for; it’s something you plan for. As a creative working in a volatile industry, having the right financial plan is essential. Dave’s experience in investment management and financial planning uniquely position him to serve as his client’s independent trusted advisor – a personal chief financial officer that can discreetly navigate the tides affecting your financial life.

Professional highlights include portfolio management on Union Bank municipal investment team which earned recognition as the best in the industry by Barron’s in 2008 and 2009; lead investment management responsibility at a $300M financial planning firm; and working with amazing entrepreneurs, executives, and families.

David’s education includes a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation, a Certified Financial Planning (CFP) designation, and a U.C. Berkeley bachelor’s degree where he conducted a study on evidenced based investment management with Haas Professor of Investments David Distad.

About Will Steinberger, CFP®

I founded Think Different Financial Planning to help people in tech manage their money.

During my wealth management career, I’ve developed an expertise specific to the finances of Silicon Valley employees who work at publicly-traded technology companies. I started my own firm to provide that specialized knowledge for a transparent and flat fee.

My number one priority is to provide assurance to my clients that their finances are professionally managed and that they are moving towards their financial goals.

I graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration with a Concentration in Finance from San Jose State University. After college I earned my Certified Financial Planner designation while working at Raub Brock Capital Management, a Registered Investment Advisor based in Larkspur, California, before joining Opes Wealth Management in Menlo Park, California.

I was born and raised in Palo Alto, California, and I love the Bay Area. I volunteer as a financial coach for West Valley Community Services, a non-profit based in Cupertino, CA. I’m a lifelong Warriors and Niners fan, avid reader, podcast listener, and workout junkie. I live in Redwood City, California, with my wife, Helene, and our St. Bernard, Winnie.

Susan got her professional start in the Sacramento area when she obtained her MBA from UC Davis in Finance and Accounting, joining first Deloitte & Touche then Hewlett Packard. After many years in corporate finance, and wanting a more personal and hands-on professional environment, she joined a financial planning firm in Davis at its inception in 2006. As an ideal resource for clients, she decisively helped to grow this small company into a local powerhouse.

Susan combines a focus on client service and effective communication with advanced analytical skills to help clients move closer to their goals. As a financial planner and IRS enrolled agent, she incorporates tax planning into comprehensive financial planning and investment management.

Susan’s passion for helping others achieve financial freedom is fueled by family experience. She spent many hours assisting her widowed grandmother with financial issues and investments, which left Susan with a clear sense of the need for planning and an awareness of the personal satisfaction she feels when helping others. She finds it especially gratifying to work with women experiencing a life transition, helping them make the informed decisions necessary to better their lives now and in the future.

In her free time, Susan enjoys camping, hiking, and bicycling. Some of her favorite local camping excursions have included trips to the Serene Lakes region and the beautiful peace of the Gerle Creek area.

He has over 20 years of financial services experience including as a credit union executive and a partner in an independent tech stock research firm during the late 90s. Joshua works with all types of people, but he does specialize in helping people navigate two of the great adventures in life: growing a business and building a family. I specialize in helping couples make better financial decisions related to stock options and RSUs. I know we’re saving enough for retirement in 401k’s, but my wife and I still have serious conversations about how to use her RSUs most effectively. Our issues require significant financial planning that firms with AUM minimums wouldn’t be willing to take on.

In my free time, I coach my three kids sports teams, play softball, golf, ski in Incline Village, and work on the NYTimes Crossword puzzle with my wife, Jessica. If you ever see me out and about, I’m the guy wearing something UCLA, Chargers, Padres, or Warriors.
