About Samuel Lewis, CFP®, ChFC

I’ve lived in Delaware my entire life but have been fortunate to travel around the world. I joined the military while still in high school and continue serving today, almost 23 years later! I’ve worked as a farmhand, drafter, land surveyor, personal trainer, air cargo craftsman, recruiter and senior enlisted leader.

But my passion is for financial planning.

I wasn’t always smart with money, but when I met the love of my life, I knew I had to do better. The spark was lit when I picked up a copy of Kiplinger’s Personal Finance magazine in an airport gift shop when embarking on a family trip to Disney World in 2013. It was a real wake-up call to admit how much I didn’t know about the financial considerations that would shape our future.

Along my journey, I consumed every bit of knowledge I could get my hands on. In 2018, I earned a full Veteran’s Scholarship to the American College of Financial Services through the Penn Mutual Center for Veterans Affairs. I began the rigorous coursework for the Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) curriculum. In 2020, I passed the Securities Industry Essentials and Series 65 exams leading to the ultimate achievement of passing the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ Exam and was awarded the CFP® Certification 2022.

My mission now is to serve you, to help you understand your financial situation, set clear goals for your future, and give you a well-marked path to help you get there. Whatever the goal, we can plan for that!

About Amber Miller, CFP®, EA, CSRIC

I help clients build their net worth and use their money for good. I serve busy professionals, who work hard every day to care for others (patients, pets, kids) AND who want to do more. They’re passionate about personal, environmental, and social justice issues, and frustrated they don’t have the financial savvy (or time) to support their lifestyle and also change the world. I help clients make their extraordinary lives even better.

How you save and invest for the future, where you bank, and even the credit card you use can help make us and the planet a little better. As your partner (and fee-only fiduciary), I’ll help you understand your options, find venues to support what’s important to you, and build a better world.

I am one of less than 500 financial professionals to hold the Chartered SRI Counselor (CSRIC) designation, specializing in sustainable, responsible, and impact investments (SRI). These are investments that consider the environment as well as incorporate procedures and governance to not only generate a return for a client but also to make a positive societal impact.

About Alex Crouch, CFP®

I’ve always been fascinated by money, but I never planned on working in finance. Fresh out of college I moved to Columbus, Ohio to live with my wife while she finished up grad school. I needed a job, and I stumbled my way into a role at Morgan Stanley by responding to a sketchy Craigslist ad. I was about 70% certain it was a scam. Luckily it wasn’t, and I got the job! It was a great learning experience, and I got my feet wet while learning the industry fundamentals there.

After a few years though my dad recruited me to return to my hometown in Charlotte, NC to help run the family business in the natural gas industry. I loved working with family, but ultimately decided my heart wasn’t in it. Discussing thread counts on screws and the viscosity of silicone didn’t get my intellectual juices flowing.

Meanwhile I was spending countless hours of my free time researching personal finance and finally had the realization “why don’t I make a career out of this?” So I made the difficult decision (sorry, dad) to transition back into finance with a job at Vanguard. I was right. This was finally scratching that intellectual itch. But I wanted to make a more personal impact on people’s lives, and I couldn’t accomplish that as a tiny cog in a giant machine.

So I took jobs at a few smaller firms where I was able to develop personal relationships with clients, get their finances on track, and help them accomplish their goals. Now this was my jam! During my time there I worked with clients in tech and realized how much complexity there was in managing their finances. Managing their company equity was complicated! Managing their stock options was extra complicated! But I loved the complexity, I loved the people, and I loved the look on their face when it all finally came together.

Soon though, I began to get the entrepreneurial itch (thanks, dad) to start my own firm. I knew exactly who I wanted to work with – tech professionals. I saw first hand the impact I could have in their lives. That was my inspiration for founding Tech Financial Planning. Now I get to put it all together: intellectual fulfillment, meaningful relationships, and personal impact, all while working with awesome folk in tech solving their complex problems. Now that’s what I call a dream job!

As for a bit about my personal life, in 2022 I celebrated my 10th wedding anniversary with my amazing wife, Allie. We met in high school and survived a 4-year long distance relationship during college while she attended school in Ohio and I attended the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. We have two amazing kids, Elliot and Reya, and an adorable, yet clingy Australian Shepherd named Cassie.

I value experiences over things, so my wife and I love traveling domestically and internationally to explore new places and cultures. I’m also a firm believer that you don’t need to spend money to have fun, so I’m always exploring my current hometown, Nashville, for fun, free activities. I love board games, I’m an avid podcast listener, and I’m always on the lookout for a great show to binge.

About Elizabeth Plot, CFP®, ChFC®, AFC®, EA

Hi, I’m Liz and I’m a fee-only financial planner. I started Primas Financial Planning to help individuals make financial decisions they feel good about and be confident that those choices will prepare them for the future.

As the first in my family to graduate from college, I had to navigate a lot of firsts out of necessity, not choice. Like most of my clients, I didn’t learn about personal finance in school, and I’ve had to make decisions based on the information that was available to me. I’ve been fortunate to have accumulated knowledge through various sources. Some of my financial planning knowledge comes from school and work but a lot of lessons were learned from friends, family, my military community, and by making many, many mistakes. I recognize that not everyone is fortunate enough to have this wealth of knowledge at their fingertips and my goal with Primas FP is to help others have the same financial security and peace of mind.

I’m a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™, Chartered Financial Consultant, Accredited Financial Counselor and Enrolled Agent. I’ve been working with clients for over 15 years helping them achieve their goals and build their wealth. First and foremost, I’m a fiduciary which means I’ll always put your interests first.

I’ve lived in 9 states and 4 countries and I’ll be joining you virtually from Maryland, but I work with clients all over the United States. When I’m not listening to financial planning podcasts and delighting my husband and daughters with tax lectures, you can find me hiking, kickboxing, trying not kill the plants in my garden and volunteering in my community.

I’m looking forward to hearing your life’s story. Let’s meet!

Fee-only Financial Advice for Professors and Others

As a long-time college professor, I teach fellow professors how to graduate from academic freedom to financial freedom. I help professors early in their careers develop a successful financial plan and help seasoned professors adjust their plans as retirement approaches.

As a professor, I prepare for the first day of class. As a financial advisor, I help professors prepare for their first day of retirement. As a professor, I help students develop an academic plan to meet their career goals. As a financial advisor, I help professors develop a financial plan to achieve their life goals.

Unlike most financial professionals, I work with you as a fee-only fiduciary planner. This means I am paid directly by you for objective advice without sales commissions, hidden fees, or conflicts of interests.

My earliest money memory is saving my allowance and birthday money to pay for a toy when I was seven years old. I went to the sales counter with my piggy bank (a ceramic pig that I still have) and dumped out coins and crumpled dollar bills. To this day, I value the ability to save for future goals!

Investments are important, but so are income taxes, insurance, education funding, daily spending habits, estate planning and our relationship with money. I look forward to helping you achieve clarity and confidence with all aspects of a comprehensive financial plan.
