Rafael Melendez, CFP®, CSLP

About Rafael Melendez, CFP®, CSLP

Growing up I never truly understood the power that knowledge of money and money habits holds. As a child to immigrants, money was never an abundant resource. I recall “working” 8 hour days with my father’s landscape contracting company to earn $20. Working mainly consisted of passing out marketing brochures to homes in development and sitting in the truck eating ice cream. I knew that if I went to work for those $20, in three days I would have enough money to buy myself a new video game. So I went to work. This was the first true lesson I had in saving money to achieve a goal of mine.

Life has a funny way of giving in abundance. As I grew up, money came in abundance. I started working my first part-time job and I had extra money in my pocket. Expenses also came in abundance. Therein came my desire to be smart with money. I knew that the things I desired in this life required some form of planning as my life became more complex. No longer could I spend as I earned and expect to achieve all of the success and goals I had set for myself.

Your life is complex and dynamic. Much more than mine was at 10 years old when all I had to worry about was which video game I wanted to buy or what bag of chips I wanted to eat. Your life in your 20’s, 30’s, & 40’s is ever-changing and comes with important financial decisions. I decided to become a financial planner so that I can help you: take that long vacation, help pay for your children’s college expenses, feel confident about purchasing your first home, understand how to repay your student loans and more. My goal in our relationship is to allow you to do the things that you truly love without worrying about how to get there.

Jake Northrup, CFP®, CSLP®

About Jake Northrup, CFP®, CSLP®, CFA

Hi there!

My name is Jake – I’m originally from Massachusetts, but currently live in Rhode Island with my high-maintenance wedding planner wife and dog (yes – both high maintenance!).

I previously worked at a financial planning firm in the Boston area servicing families with ~$5 million+ in net worth which taught me a very valuable lesson. Time is finite, whereas money is infinite.

We get trapped sacrificing our valuable time in the endless pursuit of earning more money when we don’t know how much money is “enough”. We make unnecessary sacrifices to save for “retirement” because that’s what we’re supposed to do… right? I’d argue no.

And thus, Experience Your Wealth was born. I launched EYW in 2019 to help travel-loving young families experience their money throughout their life and not just in “retirement”.

We’re shaking up the financial planning industry by bringing modern, life-centered financial planning advice and personal CFO-level service to our clients. We are completely remote, paperless and meet clients over Zoom with frequent guest appearances from kids, dogs, cats and whatever fun animals that may be around your home.

I love what I do – seriously, I nerd-out for it. I’ve spent countless hours learning as much as I can about financial planning and being involved in the community. Here are a few ways how:

– Named to the 2020 Investment News 40 Under 40 Class
– Named as a Top 23 Financial Planner for Millennials by Business Insider in 2020
– Named a Financial Advisor Magazine Young Advisor to Watch in 2021
– Earned the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) designation
– Earned the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation
– Earned the Certified Student Loan Professional (CSLP®) designation
– Taught Retirement Planning and Employee Benefits at Boston University’s CFP® program
– Led the NexGen community for the Financial Planning Association (FPA) of Massachusetts

When I’m not wearing my financial planner hat, you can find me traveling around the world with my wife. Some of our favorite trips include Antarctica, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Egypt, Iceland, Croatia and Greece (where we got married!).

Dog lovers required, travel enthusiasts encouraged!

Jared Andreoli, CFP®, CSLP®

About Jared Andreoli, CFP®, CSLP®

Hi, I’m Jared Andreoli, CFP®, CSLP®, and I launched Simplicity Financial in 2017. As a Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) and a Certified Student Loan Planner (CSLP®), I work with young professionals and small business owners to develop a financial road map to achieve their goals.

I have been interested in finances ever since I can remember, from being excited about a coin sorter as an 8 year old, to hiding my birthday money in the front cover of my Harry Potter book. In fact, one year, my favorite birthday gift was a book titled The Kids’ Money Book, and it still holds a special place on my bookshelf. Even as a child, I quickly realized that if I diligently managed my money, I could do even more things with this key tool. Another passion of mine has always been helping people achieve success by connecting on a personal level. To me, there is no better feeling than the joy I experience when I have helped someone, whether it be big or small. So, it comes as no surprise that financial planning was an obvious fit for me.

After completing a college baseball career and graduating from Western Kentucky University with a finance major with a concentration in financial planning, I spent 6 years working as a mutual fund administrator for a large company. While I learned an immense amount about the financial world, I was missing the personal connection of working with individual clients that I could not find in the corporate world. In 2017, I put my aspirations into action and established Simplicity Financial.

Since then, I have worked with individuals, families, and business owners to align their personal values with their financial goals. Whether it be buying a house, paying off student loans, establishing a retirement plan, or planning for a growing family, I work with my clients to identify their financial picture and develop a road map to navigate their success. I am also a small business owner, so I understand first hand the financial nuances of owning and managing a business. I strive to work with business owners to help them not only grow their business, but also balance this with achieving their personal aspirations.

I am based out of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, but I utilize technologies to accommodate clients from all over the country. I meet with clients via in person meetings, telephone calls, or video conferences. I understand that my clients have busy lives and hectic schedules, so I have developed a flexible schedule and various forms of communications to meet the needs of my clients without being limited by location or time constraints.

Lucid Wealth Planning (“LWP”) was founded to improve the lives of others by helping clients make better-informed financial decisions in both their daily lives as well as long-term plans. We believe our impact provides added security, confidence, and overall joy in the lives of our clients. Given our focus on clients that strive to improve the world around them, such as Health Care Professionals and Academic professors, we anticipate the ripple effect of betterment to be limitless.

Education:
B.S.B. degree in Finance
Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP®), and
Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor (CRPC®)

Experience:
The completion of over 700 comprehensive financial plans for individuals and families since joining the industry in 2006. This includes specialized areas such as student loan analysis, estate planning, tax planning, portfolio management, and cash flow strategizing (to name a few).

Here are a few facts about my financial life experience, examples that may resonate with your own personal story:

– I have a passion for the profession I’ve chosen. I realize that money isn’t everything, but neither is health or education on its own. It’s the combination of these three areas that determine the overall experience one has in life. I chose financial planning, whereas your passion may have resulted in health or academic professions.
– I paid for college myself, graduating with nearly $100,000 in debt between student loans, private loans, and credit card debt. Hard work, discipline, and strategic planning allowed us to eliminate our debt and grow our net worth substantially in less than 10 years.
– My wife and I paid for our own wedding, the down payment on our home, and virtually every other expense we’ve incurred. Neither of us came from wealth; being responsible with our savings and spending habits quickly became a focal point in our relationship.
We have two incredible children, our son Kayden was born in July 2013 and our daughter Avery was born in January 2019. We have successfully worked through increased medical costs, college savings and private school expenses, and increased cost of living to ensure the little ones gain the experience necessary to appreciate all that life offers.
– I’m a family man. I have dedicated nearly 115,000 hours to being a husband, and have 52,000 hours of experience in raising a family (and counting!).
– I love to volunteer. I am actively engaged in Activate Good, Junior Achievement of Eastern North Carolina, Family Reach, as well as the Wake Forest Chamber of Commerce.

As a financial planner, my main goal is to help you make well-informed decisions on all financial matters, not just what types of investments are right for you. I’ll always listen to your concerns, devise the best strategy, and treat your financial goals with the same care and interest that I devote to my own. I look forward to being your trusted advisor and expert resource as you build a secure, and confident, financial life.
