About Joseph Kuo, CFP®, CMA

I am a certified financial advisor and planner for attorneys, executives, and entrepreneurs.

As a fee-only fiduciary, I work solely in your best interests. I do not sell or receive commissions on any financial products such as insurance policies or investment funds.

Money can stress us regardless of how much of it we have. Born into a family business, I received many mixed money messages while growing up:

Money is supposed to provide safety and freedom, yet everyone seems to be chained to their businesses.
We should work hard to build wealth so we can have a great future for our families, yet no one knows what that actually looks like.
We want that great future for our loved ones, but we’re so busy working we have no time for them.

It’s not just about wealth, it is about well-being. If you have achieved success and wealth, but have financial questions or still feel that something isn’t right, I can partner with you to:

Clarify the goals that motivate you and uncover your “whys”.
Design a robust plan to grow your business, protect your family, and help you navigate the changes that life throws at you.
Use your finances and wealth as resources to help you achieve personal and financial well-being for you and your loved ones.

Patrick Dinan, CFP®, CSRIC®

About Patrick Dinan, CFP®, CSRIC®

Hi, I’m Patrick and I’m an advisor serving forward thinking professionals who care about the environment and investing in a better world. I’m passionate about partnering with my clients to take the stress out of financial planning and investment management.

Like most clients I serve, you are probably busy with your career, your family, fitness and other passions. Financial planning may not be at the top of your to-do list.

My goal is to be your accountability partner in developing and executing your personalized vision. We will work together proactively to make sure you are moving forward with your personalized plan. Over the long run, this will save you time, money, and unnecessary stress so you can focus on what’s truly important to you.

When it comes to investing, I don’t believe you need to sacrifice your values to get higher returns. In fact, I believe the exact opposite. Through my research, I have found that in most cases, ethically challenged companies tend to underperform over the long-run. I seek to avoid these businesses so we can invest more of your hard-earned money on purpose-driven enterprises focused on building a better future.

The goal is to empower you while helping your bottom line. I view this as a win-win. As a signatory to the Divest-Invest movement, I avoid investing in any fossil fuel or carbon based companies. I will never use expensive and opaque mutual funds or try to time the market. I have found that successful investment strategies are well-diversified, disciplined and keep costs low.

Originally from Pittsburgh, my wife and I are proud Steelers fans. After spending the past fourteen years in California, we’ve rounded out most of the major cities including San Diego, San Francisco and now reside in Los Angeles.

When I’m not advising clients, you can find me at one of the local parks or beaches with my two young daughters.

I love swimming in the open water and over the years I’ve escaped from Alcatraz, swam under the Golden Gate Bridge and raced from San Diego to Coronado.

I enjoy science fiction and reading about how future trends will impact our economy. To me, there is nothing better than relaxing with friends and family while sharing a great meal and a nice bottle of wine.

Kay Dee Cole, CFP®, CeFT®

About Kay Dee Cole, CFP®, CeFT®, RLP

Clarity Wealth Development came into existence because there had to be a better way to help people invest and come up with a financial plan based on their goals. I had been working from the broker side of the business where selling product was first and advising came second. When I was finalizing a name for my company my father was suffering from Alzheimer’s disease. I chose the name Clarity because having clarity is the key to making sound decisions. The last part of the name, Wealth Development, is because I not only want to help people manage money but also build wealth.

Our mission is to help you navigate the financial planning process. You need basic knowledge and confidence. And you need an advisor willing to listen to you. We treat you with respect and dignity and supply you with timely information and education in helping you develop a solid strategy. Once we know your goals, then we help you implement a financial plan you can have confidence in. When you clearly know where you are going and how to get there, you are more likely to achieve your goals.

Growing up as a farmer’s daughter just south of Corvallis, Oregon I learned the value of hard work and perseverance. I attended school in Corvallis and graduated from Oregon State University in the School of Agriculture with a Natural Resources Economics Degree with minors in business and statistics. After college I worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture as a statistician in California and Colorado. In 1996 my husband and I returned to Corvallis to help with the family farm. In 2000, my entrepreneurial spirit helped me realize my dream of owning my own retail business, as a florist.

My background and experience in running that retail business and being involved with the sale of our family’s business gives me a unique perspective in family-owned businesses. I also realized that running a retail business was not my dream job. With the help of my financial advisor, I decided financial planning was what I really wanted to do. I started out in a large broker business but decided I wanted to help people plan for life; not just sell investments.

So I took a huge leap of faith and opened Clarity Wealth Development in 2010. I also became a Certified Financial Planner™ in 2012. I knew this was a great way to provide value and it turns out I was right. As a CFP® I have a fiduciary duty to my clients, a higher standard than most advisors. Being a fiduciary means putting my clients interests first at all times.

That courage to go out on my own came in handy when I became a cancer survivor. I understand the complexity of financial planning during a serious illness. In late 2012 I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer, stage IIIB. This was a stressful time for my family, my clients and myself. However, this did give me valuable insight as a financial planner for those unexpected life changing moments.

I am more determined than ever to provide the best service to my clients. I find joy in my family and especially my husband of 25 years. We also have two wonderful dogs, Bailey a yellow Labrador and Bella a Great Pyrenees mix. We enjoy traveling together and being active in our local community.
