I’m Mike Farrow, and I’m the founder of FlightPath Financial Planning. I started my own firm because I wanted to have more control over implementing ideas and practices that are truly best for my clients. I grew up reading books written by some of the greatest financial minds of all time. From those books I developed an ethos deeply rooted in doing what’s best for the investor. This translates today to doing what’s best for the client. I always put my clients interests first and assist them in setting themselves up for a strong financial future.

Likewise, I built my financial planning firm from the ground up using our industry’s best technology, tools and practices. Building it myself has allowed me to keep my costs to you quite low. While the desire to help individuals on a personal level has led to the development of ACH Wealth Management, I bring with me four decades of experience working in the financial service industry. I began my career in the late 1990’s as a stockbroker before working as a branch manager for nearly a decade. Next, I obtained my CFP® certification and became a financial advisor at Merrill Lynch in 2011.

I have now spent seven years as a wealth management advisor to approximately 700 clients, both employed and retired. Everyday, I wake up eager to maximize clients opportunities and benefits, and give them a breath of reassurance in their financial world.

The free moments of my day are spent with my wife, Dr. Amanda House, and my elementary school aged children, Reese and Grant. We are involved with Queen of Peace Catholic Church and our neighborhood, the Town of Tioga. We are also big Gator fans, and follow University of Florida athletics regularly.

Who am I and where in the world am I?
I am a military spouse, mother to two children, Savannah (7) and James (5), and cat, Joey. We currently live in the sunflower state, Kansas, where the sunflowers bloom for two glorious weeks and the rest of the year the weather is brutally hot, bitterly cold, or on the good days a perfect 72 degrees. I grew up in South Carolina, but have lived many amazing places, Australia as a young child, Spain during college, and through the many moves with the military in Texas, Hawaii, Colorado and this summer our next big adventure to Germany.

Why did I choose to be a CFP®?
I became a Certified Financial Planner over 10 year ago to help people who do not ‘get’ money find understanding and feel confident in making money decisions. I discovered early on when I left my small town bubble and went to the large state university that other people with different backgrounds from different areas of the state and country that not everyone understood basic money topics. I felt fortunate that my dad shared some money topics with me and that I easily understood them. I also felt like our country was and still is doing a disservice to us all in that financial literacy and education is not a higher priority in primary and secondary schooling environments.

What I am learning now?
I strongly believe that tax planning plays a very significant role in your overall money picture and ability to grow your wealth. In 2020 – 2021 I completed a Comprehensive Tax Course and prepared tax returns along side an experienced Enrolled Agent and fellow CFP®.

I also believe that behaviors and emotions drive most of our decisions made surrounding our money and spend a lot of my time understanding how to show up in a space that encourages you to also be aware of these areas to have more control. In March 2021 I became Dare to Lead™ Trained based on the research of Brené Brown, Ph.D, MSW.

What is the life part of my work/life balance?
I enjoy traveling through experiences and food, relaxing on the beach and snow skiing with my family. I will always opt for the outdoors as long as the weather is pleasant.

What I am most proud of?
I took two years off in my career to raise my babies and we lived off one-income, when I reentered the workforce the majority of my income went to childcare cost. Now that my kids are in elementary school, we still strive to live off one-income and align our spending with our love to travel and for experiences. Budgeting and spending plans are the key to this success.

What challenges have I faced that have made me who I am today?
My daughter had open heart surgery at 7 months old to close a hole, the unknowns are scary and family is invaluable.

I lost my younger brother to a heart attack at the age of 26 and it shifted my mindset that you only get one chance at this life so do not wait to do it all, start living today.

Finances have always played an important role in my life, but I never knew it would become my passion. At 25, I quit my high-paying job and had to figure out how to facilitate my first rollover. Before entering the Peace Corps, I figured out how to defer my student loan. After our wedding, I researched where my husband and I could safely invest our money while we were abroad. This might sound like drudgery to some, but for me, they were stimulating challenges.

Over my life, I’ve bought and sold homes, moved across the country and globe. I worked for fortune 500 companies and small independent firms. This path eventually led me to acquire the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ designation. I wanted to make a difference in the financial industry. “The percentage of women CFP® professionals has remained flat at 23% for at least a decade.” The requirements for obtaining the CFP® designation are high: countless hours of coursework, a 6-hour extensive exam, and 6,000 hours of professional experience.

I founded Kirwin Financial because, honestly, there are not enough fee-based financial planners focused on serving my demographic. My husband and I could have used a sounding board along the way.

Kyle is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ and member of the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors. He has sworn to a fiduciary oath of putting clients interests above all else. We work with individuals who are looking for a personal relationship, not a cog in the Big Finance machine. We take a very limited number clients per advisor to make sure clients have access to help with decisions both large and small.

We work with young professionals, established professionals, and business owners and their families to help build wealth and achieve peace of mind. We are confident in building solid financial plans that are forward looking while tailoring an investment strategy for each of our clients.

Kyle is happily married to his wife Amber, and they are kept busy by their playful dog, Copper. Outside of work, Kyle is passionate about cooking and exploring the world of wine. In fact, Cru is a wine industry term used in France to describe vineyards of superior quality. When building his company, Kyle felt this aligned with his objective in the financial industry.

Being the son of a CPA, I have always had a keen interest in finance. Along with my other two siblings, I spent a few tax seasons in my father’s office helping where I could and learning the basics of the tax universe. After my time at Virginia Tech, I spent 5 years in Northern Virginia in the hospitality industry, from country clubs to selling wine (fun!!). After the arrival of my first daughter, my wife, Emily, and I returned to our roots in Richmond. I joined his father at his firm in 2018 and made quick work of learning the financial planning world. My goal is to take the questions and stress out of my clients’ financial situation, so they can live the life they’ve always wanted. I believe that everyone should have access to a financial planner, whether they have substantial assets, or are just starting to save. You’ve got questions, the Hussmen have the answers!

Joseph Alfonso, CFP®, ChFC®, EA, RICP® founded Aegis Financial Advisory and is the principal financial planner for the firm. He received his B.A. in Philosophy from Cornell University.

Joe works with pre-retiree couples to help them successfully transition to a life in retirement secure in the knowledge that they will always be able to afford their chosen lifestyle. He achieves this goal by leveraging his expertise in Social Security and retirement income planning.
