Taylor Anderson, CFP®

About Taylor Anderson, CFP®

Taylor’s passion for financial planning started when she and her husband decided to take a break from their traditional career paths in Seattle to join the Peace Corps. She served for two years in Kyrgyzstan before joining her family-owned financial planning business in Vancouver, Washington. Since then, Taylor has found that she has a passion for serving clients who are ambitious in their career paths and hobbies alike. Most importantly, hearing about her clients’ travel plans and being able to assist them in making them happen is incredibly rewarding. The best challenge that Taylor faces is helping her clients build flexibility into their financial plans. When she is able to oversee and assist her clients execute a sabbatical that they have been dreaming of, this is not only satisfying for the client but her as well. She loves to share her personal experience regarding her first sabbatical and since then, why she has not shied away from taking them year after year.

Taylor began her career in consulting and as a project manager at large companies. With this experience, she knows what it is like to make decisions on benefits, to advocate for herself in annual reviews, and to navigate corporate work environments. Taylor brings her prior experience to her sabbatical planning work by adding creativity to the more technical side of financial planning. Mindmaps, roadmaps, and her favorite…. brainstorming with Post-Its are some of her favorite techniques in sabbatical planning because they create active engagement with clients and provide fresh and insightful perspective.

Taylor would love to help you in your journey in planning for a break or transition in your current career. Vacations and doing what you love should not be an event that only happens once you retire. Contact Taylor if you would love to know the next steps to living your work and personal life to their fullest.

T.J. van Gerven, CFP®

About T.J. van Gerven, CFP®

Hi, my name is Theodore van Gerven, but you can call me TJ!

I’m the founder of Modern Wealth Builders, LLC, an independent fee-only financial planning practice located in the Greater Boston area.

At MWB, I help people identify what truly matters to them and show them how to use their money to create the life they want.

While I meet with clients in-person when convenient (and when not in a pandemic), I primarily meet with clients virtually.

Meaning, you don’t have to be located in Massachusetts to work with me.

I started MWB, so I could remove the complexity behind financial planning and work with hard-working, like-minded professionals.

Outside of helping clients perfect their financial plan, I can be found traveling, playing spike ball on South Beach (Martha’s Vineyard), or crafting a finance friendly meme. 🙂

Kailie Abascal, CFP®

About Kailie Abascal, CFP®

The most enjoyable part of Kailie’s job is getting an email from her clients as they take off on the trip they’ve been planning together for the past few years. After all the anxiety, excitement, number-crunching, and decluttering, they’re off on their dream adventure with a clear picture of what they want to get out of their time away, and a solid plan for when they return.

Whether you’re considering taking advantage of an employer-sponsored sabbatical at the job you love, taking time off before transitioning into a new job or career, or simply looking for a time to re-focus on what’s most important, we are your partner to help you think through the how of your sabbatical planning.

Kailie’s passion for the non-traditional career path started when she spent three years living and working in Oaxaca, Mexico before starting a new job. During that time, she got married, ate her weight in tamales and pozole, gained fluency in Spanish, and called a new corner of the world home. Since then, she and her husband have lived in three countries and both coasts of the United States, while still pursuing their individual career paths (and welcoming the unexpected right turns along the way!)

If you feel stuck in your daily routine and need a break to reset, reach out so we can talk through the next steps to taking the sabbatical of your dreams.

Steve Nading, CFP®, CPA

About Steve Nading, CFP®, CPA

My mission is to help you and your family set out on your path as soon as possible. I’m here to serve and guide you along your unique path, towards a life of financial freedom and security. I focus on providing clarity and saving you time by handling what, for most, is an arduous task. This allows you to focus on living and enjoying life with the knowledge your financial future has been well thought out. I will guide you through your options and assist in making informed decisions without overwhelming you with jargon.
I believe that time is your most precious asset and hope to give you much more of it, free from doubt that you may be making mistakes or missing opportunities that will affect your financial wellbeing now and in the future. Time is also one of the key factors in investing success. The sooner you can get started the better your results will be down the road!
I’m inspired by a minimalist mindset and view wealth in terms greater than tangible dollars and cents. I strive toward solutions that are simple without being simplistic. It would be a disservice to characterize your financial life as anything other than complex. You have so many things competing for your resources and it can be difficult to find focus. Without oversimplifying your life, I will help you discover guiding principles that will assist in decision making now and far into the future. My services also extend beyond maximizing the dollar amounts in your accounts. I want to empower you to live your greatest life. You shouldn’t be in service of your wealth – it should be in service of you!

Daniel D. (Dan) Joss, CFP®, MBA, RLP®, CKA®

About Daniel D. (Dan) Joss, CFP®, MBA, RLP®, CKA®

Dan Joss is a seasoned Financial Life Planning professional. Dan Joss is among a small force of Life Planners, less than 200 in the U.S. and only a few dozen in the mid-Atlantic area. Dan founded Joss Financial in 2015, and now, in 2020, has joined with Katherine Brown to create Joss Brown Wealth Advisors. Their shared vision and faith along with combined talents and experiences will further enhance their clients’ Life Plans.

Dan excels at asking poignant questions to determine what inspires and motivates his clients. These initial planning sessions will be introspective and challenging. Long-time clients give testimony that one must think deeply in terms of their own personal values and ask questions like:

“If you had more time or money, what would you do?”

“What do you want to accomplish or attain so you will feel that you’ve had a life well-lived?”

“What moves, touches, or inspires you?”

Dan’s approach to financial planning: “living what matters” was born of his own life experiences. Originally from Seattle, Washington, Dan is a graduate of the University of Southern California, where he studied Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting and Finance. In 1988 he was commissioned in the US Army, later earning his Ranger Tab and Master Parachutist. In 1999, Dan earned a Master of Business Administration with an emphasis in Financial Planning from Regent University while still on active duty. His CFP® designation was awarded in 2003, and he earned his Registered Life Planning (RLP®) designation from the Kinder Institute of Life Planning in 2009.

Before moving to Hampton Roads, Dan co-founded and partnered in a wealth management firm in Northern Virginia where he helped high net worth clients maximize their financial resources to achieve their life goals. Whether it was portfolio management, maximizing after-tax returns, real estate opportunities, inter-generational wealth transfer, or a host of other unique financial issues, Dan has reaped a wide range of real-world experiences that lend greatly to helping clients achieve fulfillment. Northern Virginia Magazine and the Washingtonian have even recognized Dan as a “Top Financial Planner” over the years. He has been quoted in local print and online publications, with clients volunteering to tell their personal financial stories to national publications like Smart Money and Kiplinger’s.

“I am committed to helping clients develop intentional road-maps to a life of fulfillment by using their wealth and talents for that purpose.”

During Dan’s tenure in NoVA, he created and implemented a Life Plan for his own family. It was this major lifestyle change that prompted his book, “10,080 Minutes” where he shares how he became laser-focused on his faith, his family, and creating the time to enjoy both. These epiphanies led Dan to Hampton Roads, where today he invests his time with his wife and family, living life focused on what matters most. When Dan is not working with clients, he enjoys consistently taking his family to church and devoting time daily to reading the Bible. Otherwise, he is on the golf course, taking walks in Colonial Williamsburg, or planning short getaways with his family.

Justin Waller, CFP®

About Justin Waller, CFP®

I ran my first financial projection at the ripe age of 11. I was trying to show my father the financial benefits of quitting smoking. While I was unsuccessful in my attempt, I look back on that as the first step on a long journey.

I started working in the mutual fund management industry in 1998. I enjoyed helping people improve their lives through their finances, but I wanted to have a more direct and personal impact. In 1999, I started training at the University of California, Davis in their CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional training program. This career path allowed me to directly help people achieve their personal goals.

After being recruited by a nationally known financial planning firm in early 2000, I was promoted to training manager before the end of the year. I obtained my Certified Financial Planner designation in the spring of 2003. After spending several years in a fee-based structure, I became a fee-only planner in 2009. I started my own firm in late 2014 to provide more independence and flexibility so that I could better serve my clients.

I enjoy working with active people who see their money as a means to do more with their lives. Whether you are involved in sports, like to travel, want to contribute your time to charitable organizations, or are an involved grandparent, I want to help make those things financially possible. I like to work with people who value a trusting relationship with a knowledgeable advisor.

As a six-time Ironman triathlon finisher, I enjoy living a multi-sport lifestyle, encouraging others to be active and take a healthy approach to work and to life.

I currently live in Northern California with my wife, and two wonderful children.

C. Bradley Bond, CFP®, CFA®

About C. Bradley Bond, CFP®, CFA®, AIF®, EA

I have been providing financial planning and investment advisory services to individuals and families for over 20 years. Over that time I have developed expertise with four key groups that have become the focus of my practice:

– Established families facing increasing financial complexities and
competing priorities as children and careers grow

– Travel nurses and other workers living and working in multiple states. My
wife is a travel nurse and we are full-time RVers

– Widows and widowers

– Families considering career changes, or experiencing sudden wealth, such
as through inheritance.

I joined XY Planning Network because the effect of good decisions is especially magnified for younger clients. Starting off right and making small changes sooner is much easier than having to make large, uncomfortable changes later.

I value education, and I value being a fiduciary to my clients. I have invested in the credentials and continuing education that provide a solid base of knowledge for what I do:

Chartered Financial Analyst®
Accredited Investment Fiduciary®
Enrolled to practice before Internal Revenue Service

In addition to my financial planning practice, I have served as an expert witness in securities arbitration cases.

Outside of work, I enjoy fitness and outdoor activities including hiking, cycling, and sailing.
