Jonathan Kiehl, CFP®, CKA

About Jonathan Kiehl, CFP®, CKA

Jonathan spent over a decade working on time machines for Rolex Watch, USA before entering the financial services industry in 2015. Serving as Rolex’s technical instructor allowed him to develop analytical skills, an eye for detail and a passion to educate: all skills he now enjoys applying to his clients’ financial plans.
After several years working at a fee-only, RIA, Jonathan founded EVENKIEHL, LLC to specialize in tax-efficient planning and investing through a personalized approach aimed at providing peace of mind and clarity.

As a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™, Jonathan is dedicated to maintaining a high standard of education. In addition to being a CFP®, he received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Elizabethtown College and his MBA in Personal Financial Planning from Indiana Wesleyan University.
Jonathan met his wife Katelyn as a result of a self-supported bicycle “bikepacking” trip across the United States. They now use their home in Lancaster, PA as a launch pad for their next adventures and enjoy sharing their love of the outdoors, food and travel with their three energetic boys, Talbott, Pierson and William.

About Jessica Kirwin, CFP®, MBA

Finances have always played an important role in my life, but I never knew it would become my passion. At 25, I quit my high-paying job and had to figure out how to facilitate my first rollover. Before entering the Peace Corps, I figured out how to defer my student loan. After our wedding, I researched where my husband and I could safely invest our money while we were abroad. This might sound like drudgery to some, but for me, they were stimulating challenges.

Over my life, I’ve bought and sold homes, moved across the country and globe. I worked for fortune 500 companies and small independent firms. This path eventually led me to acquire the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ designation. I wanted to make a difference in the financial industry. “The percentage of women CFP® professionals has remained flat at 23% for at least a decade.” The requirements for obtaining the CFP® designation are high: countless hours of coursework, a 6-hour extensive exam, and 6,000 hours of professional experience.

I founded Kirwin Financial because, honestly, there are not enough fee-based financial planners focused on serving my demographic. My husband and I could have used a sounding board along the way.

Daniel Johnson, CFP®

About Daniel Johnson, CFP®

I have a very different background than most financial planners. After finishing grad school at The Ohio State University, I spent over ten years working for local cities in west Michigan in city management focusing on economic development and all issues related to finances. Eventually, my wife and I wanted to move back to the Akron, Ohio area to raise our family, and I made the shift to working in the financial services industry.

I spent roughly a decade working first at Merrill Lynch and then at a small investment firm in the greater Akron area before deciding to launch my own firm. I created my own firm because I believe charging one flat fee is a better way to serve equity compensation professionals and my fellow GenX members.

I currently live in Akron, Ohio with my wife and two sons. Outside of work, I’ve served my community with past memberships of the Julie Billiart of St. Sebastian Parish Board, which is a Catholic grade school for children with special needs, and also the Village of St. Edwards Nursing Home, as well as the John Glenn College of Public Affairs Alumni Board. During my free time, I spend as much time as possible with my family, which mostly seems to involve swim meets.

Jim Garvin, CFP®

About Jim Garvin, CFP®

Hi, my name is Jim! 🙂

I am a financial planner, traveler, rock climber, and photographer who loves to work with like-minded, down to earth people.

My focus is on people in tech. I work with folks from start-up companies (series B to tender offer to IPO) as well as large tech employees (ex. Google, Microsoft & Amazon).

My goal with clients is to find out what is important to them and how they can best ‘optimize’ their life. The most common things we help people with are stock options decisions, stock compensation analysis, buying homes / real estate investments, optimizing taxes & investment strategies, early retirement & making sure you are on the right track financially.

A little bit about my background:
I grew up in the Youngstown, Ohio area, which was once a prospering steel town located in the heart of the Rust Belt. While growing up, I was taught at an early age to appreciate the value of the dollar and a hard day’s work. As I grew older, I became fascinated with entrepreneurship, tech, and my own personal finances. This fascination lead me to obtain my Certified Financial Planner designation (CFP®)

Before joining SeedSafe Financial, I worked as a small business consultant with the Small Business Administration. There, I worked alongside small business owners to improve their cash flows, profitability, and to help them understand their customer base. I spent several years working with Edward Jones Investments and eventually opened my own outsourced financial planning firm, Garvin Planning Co.

Nowadays, I work with folks from all over the United States virtually and help them gain clarity around their finances.

On a personal note:
I grew up in the Boy Scouts of America and obtained my Eagle Scout. I am a big outdoorsman and traveler and recently have been getting into rock climbing. Some of my favorite hobbies include skiing, running, and scuba diving. Every free chance I get to be outside and enjoy nature, I take it! As a virtual advisor, I cherish my location independence and I am in the process of traveling through my personal bucket list.

Life Motto:
“Life is either an incredible adventure, or it is nothing at all.”

Matthew Crum, CFP®

About Matthew Crum, CFP®

I am a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ Professional and the founder of True North Financial Services. My career started 10 years ago after graduating with a degree in Finance and Economics from the University of Delaware. Since then, the diverse experience I’ve gained working with clients and financial advisors has been invaluable, but it’s also given me a unique prospective on where there’s still a great deal of opportunity to improve.

My moment of clarity came while working for an institutional wealth management firm in Connecticut. I notice that, although clients were typically looking for an advisor to help them better understand and manage their financial lives, most advisors I encountered were primarily focused on managing investments. Many offered financial planning as a free add-on service, but because the advisors were paid based solely on the value of client’s investments, their focus remained on managing their client’s portfolios. Despite this misalignment of priorities, I found that many clients continued to work with investment-focused advisors simply because they saw no other option.

I founded True North Financial Services to change that very dynamic and offer people a different kind of relationship with their advisor. To better align our focus with the kind of help clients are seeking, True North instead charges a flat monthly fee for on-going financial planning and advice. Investment management and other services are also provided, but they are just one component of the on-going financial planning we provide to our clients.
This seemingly small change allows a shift in overall focus from simply managing investments to helping our clients make better-informed financial decisions.

Although I work with many different kinds of investors, I predominantly work with young professionals and women in transition because of my own personal and professional experiences. Most importantly, I’ve found that both groups are searching for, and benefit most from, working with an advisor focused on more than just investments.

At True North, our goal is to help our clients bring clarity to their vision of success and help map their unique path to achieve it. What does your vision of success look like?

Allow us to help guide you on your life’s journey.
