Eric Amzalag, CFP®

About Eric Amzalag, CFP®

Eric Amzalag is a Woodland Hills, CA fee-only financial planner and owner and founder of Peak Financial Planning.

Hi – I’m Eric Amzalag, founder of Peak Financial Planning. While studying Economics and Accounting at University of California, Santa Barbara, I knew I wanted a career of service to others. I didn’t know what form that would take and began my search.

I walked several paths including real estate brokerage, marketing, and the family business but none of them scratched the itch that I had to be a facilitator and educator.

I began apprenticing as a formal financial planner and investment advisor at Ameriprise Financial. The experience did not last long – I had a conflict of values with the incentive model of appearing to provide financial advice when in actuality trying to sell insurance policies.

I decided to leave the brokerage and insurance world to launch Peak Financial Planning.

I have completed the Certified Financial Planner coursework and am in the process of completing the RICP coursework. I look forward to providing value and being of service to you and your household.

Jonathan Kolmetz, CFP®, MBA

About Jonathan Kolmetz, CFP®, MBA

Jonathan’s life is defined by family, service to others, and a passion for learning.

Jon met his wife, Kristi, when they were students at St. Pius X High School and started dating in 1995 at Homecoming. They married in 2003 and have three children – Jackson (10), Benjamin (9), and Bird (6).

“I’ve always said the biggest perk of owning my own business is the ability to create the ideal work/life balance. The kids often show up in the background of photos in my office or on my videos because we integrate our work and family life.”

In childhood and as a young adult, including his time in the US Army Reserve, Jon has always been of service to others. He has volunteered, served on boards, and even started his own non-profit that raised over $100,000 for his local community.

After graduating from Texas A&M in 2002, Jon wanted to further his education and earned an MBA in 2009 from the University of Houston. In 2010, he attended Rice University and completed his Certified Financial Planning education. He became a board-certified CFP Practitioner in 2012. Still wanting to advance his education and continue serving others, Jon enrolled in a Clinical Mental Health Counseling master’s program at the University of St. Thomas in Houston and earned his degree in 2021.

Jon is constantly listening to podcasts, TED Talks, or watching documentaries—much to the chagrin of his wife and children.

For fun, Jon spends time with his cows and getting tractors stuck at the Kolmetz farm in Livingston, Texas. You also might find him on the boat at the lake pulling his kids on a tube.

The Kolmetz family continues to be active in their local community by supporting and sponsoring activities and events, including those at St. Rose of Lima, where the Kolmetz family are parishioners and where their children attend school.

Andrew Gray, CFP®, CRPC®

About Andrew Gray, CFP®, CRPC®

I’ve found that clients come to me with a series of specific challenges that they’d like help with as they approach retirement and living in retirement. These challenges center around how to best:

Replace their employment income from the assets they’ve saved
Minimize taxes paid now and in retirement
protect against the risks of the future (i.e. inflation, market downturns, unplanned health issues, assets taken from them unjustly, longevity, etc.)
How to avoid common mistakes that can be very costly over the course of their lifetime.
There are dozens of important financial decisions you face that can easily feel confusing and overwhelming.

This is where I can help you.

I launched Gray Wealth Strategies to bring highly personal, truly objective, evidence-based advice to your key financial decisions. This is what we should expect as we make critical financial choices. Regrettably, however, a vast majority of the financial services industry does not operate under such a standard where the advice/products being recommended truly align with your best interests. In fact, you may have even experienced a few of those “advisors” yourself.

I aim to change that experience for you. I operate under a “fiduciary standard”. This means that I am legally bound to provide objective advice in your best interests with zero product sales or commissions as your flat-fee only CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™.

My flat-fee only structure is unique in the industry. We offer clients two flat-fee only options: 1) a one-time retirement plan which is intended for DIY investors who want to get a second opinion and validate their decisions and 2) a full-service wealth management relationship. As part of our full-service relationship, we focus on leveraging your retirement roadmap (i.e. initial financial plan) and using it to inform, customize, and optimize your investments, taxes, and estate planning needs.

Clients who are familiar with the standard asset under management (AUM) fee structure (i.e. being charged a percentage of your assets) will appreciate these flexible, flat-fee only offerings, and I personally think it’s a great way to objectively help pre-retirees and retirees.

I absolutely love the work I do and I am proud of the value I bring to my client’s key financial decisions.

That said, my #1 pride is my family: my wife, Jessica, and our three children (Waverly, Everton, and Zealand). We split time between the outdoor wonderland of the Pacific Northwest where we mountain bike, ski, camp, and raise our littles, and the great city of Austin, TX where family resides and Lake Austin calls for fun family time.

That’s my “why”: being the best advisor I can be to my clients and living the best life possible with my family and friends.

What’s your “why”? And how can I best help you live it with the resources you have?

Please reach out and I look forward to getting to know you.
