About Laryssa Freeman, CFP®

I recognize I’m not a good fit for everyone, and that’s ok! I offer a complimentary introductory meeting so that we can be open and honest from the outset to ensure our mutual compatibility.

New clients are typically concerned with taxes in retirement, understanding if their assets will last throughout retirement and coordinating assets to replace their paycheck.

I offer flat fee financial planning or ongoing comprehensive services to take the heavy lifting off your plate. Your choice!

About Kyle Eaton, CFP®, CDFA®

Education

I attended Oklahoma State University, where I played for the OSU Cowboys football team. Most of my time was spent on the practice field—Hedge field—preparing for fall Saturdays. Although most people only saw what happened on Saturday, it was on Hedge field that the truly important occurred. I learned the importance of setting and achieving my personal goals, working through adversity, and being part of something bigger than myself. Learning these disciplines was as valuable as any college degree that I earned.

While at Oklahoma State, I earned my Masters in Family Financial Planning. You might wonder, “How does this make me different from your run-of-the-mill financial advisor or planner?” The program that I completed was in the college that studied the science of the human environment, not the business college. It included studying family systems and counseling, both elements that taught me how to look beyond the portfolio to the person.

Beliefs

I live in Denton with my wife Rachel and four children—Kyrie, Adelynn, Elias, and Titus. I believe that all skills and talents I have are God-given, to be used for His glory. For this reason, I strive for excellence. I want my work to reflect my beliefs. I also believe that all people are created in the image of God. Therefore, everyone has inherit value and worth no matter their lot in life. They deserve to be treated that way.

Finally, I believe that of whom much is given, much is expected. It is what drove me to become a two-time Verizon Academic All-American and National Football Foundation National Scholar-Athlete in college. It is what continues to drive me each day of my life. This is my personal why. It is why I get out of bed each morning. And it is for these reasons that I founded Hedgefield. It is why I want Hedgefield to be an agent of change in the lives of women and the community as a whole. One of my deepest desires is to encourage others to figure out their own why. And not only discover their own why, but also use their resources to pursue it wholeheartedly.

About Kevin Lao, CFP®

Nice to meet you!

I started in the financial services industry in 2008, amidst the Great
Recession. It was both a fascinating and heartbreaking time to start in this business. I’ve spoken to countless families who’s retirement plans were delayed years because of it, and this had a significant impact on my career path. I obtained my CFP designation at Georgetown University in 2011. The head professor of the program made a profound statement to me (us); “You can’t do this business the right way if you make a living selling products for commissions.” From that moment it clicked, I needed to cut out the conflicts of interest inherent with big wall street, brokerage, and insurance companies. I found a community of other like-minded financial advisors, also known as fiduciaries, and decided to launch my own firm to better serve you.

When I’m not diving into retirement planning or tax planning strategies for
my clients, I enjoy playing golf twice a year (once on Father’s Day and once on
my birthday), cooking, fishing, anything outdoors, and of course spending time
with my family. My beautiful wife, Jessica, and I have three boys who force us to be the best version of ourselves every day.

Now that you know more about me, I would love to get to know you!

About Carolyn Cook, CFP®, CRPC

MY MISSION
The first time I remember standing up for injustice was on the playground during 2nd grade recess. A couple of bullies were picking on a scared girl. I marched up and gave these bullies a piece of my mind and the girl and I become best friends. After entering the Financial Services industry in 2007, I quickly realized there were many “bullies” that used their knowledge to intimidate clients into pricey products and services.

What About Us Financial was founded in 2019 to stand up against the status quo in Financial Services. We are the 99% that deserve our own beautifully successful life. Money is power. It brings us security and confidence. Saving and investing is not only for the rich. We can all prosper and thrive through thoughtful budgeting, savings and investing. This is my mission in life – to empower the underserved so they may obtain financial freedom and success.

MY EXPERIENCE
I’m a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM Professional (CFP®), a Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor (CRPC®), and hold a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) in Management Innovation & Change. I have the letters to demonstrate knowledge, but it is more important to convey my heart to demonstrate compassion. I am a Fiduciary, which is the highest standard of client care. I must always act in the client’s best interest, even when it’s in opposition to mine. (This is big stuff! Do some Googling to see the efforts to hold all advisors to this standard. They have failed, so it’s still a scary world.)

MY OFFICE
My office is located inside my home in Bellbrook, Ohio. I see no reason to tax environmental (and personal) resources to open a fancy office space. We can meet at your favorite coffee shop, restaurant, office or kitchen table. And there is always video conferencing through Zoom, FaceTime or Skype.

I’m Rachael, and I help newly single women achieve financial independence after the loss of their partner to death or divorce. I’m a fee-only Certified Financial Planner® and Certified Divorce Financial Analyst® based in Northern California and serving clients across the US.

Over the past 13 years, I’ve advised hundreds of high net worth families, working for ‘traditional’ wealth management firms including Morgan Stanley, Merrill Lynch, and Ameriprise. I learned the lessons, habits, and values that led these families to their wealth, and wanted to share these insights with other women who were earlier in their financial journey.

Through my own personal experiences navigating grief and finances, I found my calling — to support and empower other women during the most challenging transitions of their lives.

Helping Widowed Women Find Financial Peace
_____

My name is Elliott Weir, the owner of III Financial. I’ve been working with clients like you since 2004. Come to think of it, it has been longer – before I officially started as a financial planner! Let me explain…

I started my career as a technology geek, having earned a Computer Science degree from Southern Methodist University (Go Ponies!). Once I graduated I secured a great job with Ernst & Young LLP as a technology consultant to Fortune 500 companies.

Then on August 20th, 1997 my life changed forever. After a brief battle with cancer, my father passed away at the age of 50. I suddenly found myself helping my mother with insurance, investments, attorneys, CPAs, and more, because my father was the one in charge of these things for the family.

Why I Share This With You
_____

This formative event explains a lot about who I am, about III Financial, and about what you can expect from me. I choose to work with widowed women because I want to have a meaningful and direct impact on their lives, as I did for my mother.

It took me years to piece it all together into my true calling. In that time, I continued with Ernst & Young, left to earn my Master in Business Administration (MBA) at the University of Texas’ McCombs School of Business, and spent a short while at IBM Tivoli. Then the light bulb went off and I became a financial adviser in 2004.

About Brandy Branstetter, CFP®

I once read that to find the work you were meant to do, you must satisfy three things: doing something you’re good at, feeling appreciated, and believing your work is making people’s lives better. I can truly say that as a financial planner and co-founder of Beyond Wealth, I have found my calling. My mission as a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ is to empower my clients to take control of their financial lives by providing the guidance and education they need to make important financial decisions with confidence.

I started my career in finance in 2005 and over the course of the last 15 years have been dedicated to continually learning everything I can about ways to help my clients achieve amazing things with their money. Early in my career, I was discouraged by the lack of engagement with our female clients. I decided I wanted to do something about it! I am passionate about working with female professionals, executives, and entrepreneurs, giving them the opportunity to fully engage with a trusted advisor who is as enthusiastic as they are about achieving their goals. Together with my partner, Andrew, we are committed to forging a long-lasting relationship with you and walking with you on your journey toward financial independence.

When I’m not at the office, I enjoy spending time with my husband, Jon, and two kids, Alexa and Ethan. When we are not chauffeuring our children to sports and activities, my husband and I enjoy playing golf and love all forms of live entertainment—anything from rock concerts to Broadway musicals. I’m a major sports junky and especially love watching Oklahoma Sooner football along with our beloved Kanas City Chiefs. My lifelong dream is to live on the beach someday, but until then, I enjoy exploring new vacation destinations with my family whenever we can.

If you’re looking for a wealth advisor in Kansas City who will work collaboratively with you and leaves you excited about the possibilities of your future, I’m your woman! Reach out to me anytime.

About Julie Quick, CFP®, CDFA®, BFA™

Julie Quick, CFP®, CDFA®, BFA™ is founder of Cultivate Financial Wellness, where she caters her services to helping women navigate the financial challenges associated with big, emotional life changes, such as the death of a spouse and divorce.

Working with a wide variety of clients throughout her 20+ year career has taught her that financial planning is about much more than numbers—it’s about paying attention to the values, emotions and life experiences of each individual person.

Women, in particular, face unique financial challenges. These may include the long-term effects of the gender wage gap, time out of the workforce to care for family members, and longer life expectancies; all of which can be compounded by a death, divorce and other major life events.

Julie lives in White Lake, Michigan, with her firefighter husband, Jeff, and their two dogs, Sullivan and Luger. When she isn’t working she enjoys yoga, running, traveling and working on home-improvement projects.
