Michael McGeoghan, CFP®, CFA

About Michael McGeoghan, CFP®, CFA

I founded my own company in 2021, after spending almost 10 years in financial services with major insurance companies. I identified an opportunity to provide clients with unbiased, objective, fee-only, independent, holistic financial planning, and knew it was time I did something about it.

I am independent, meaning I am not tied to an investment company, bank, or insurance company, and I am free of conflicts of interest, and am registered with the States of Massachusetts, Connecticut, and other jurisdictions where exempt as a Registered Investment Advisor (RIA). My focus is on fee-only financial planning and helping you construct a roadmap to meet your goals, dreams, and aspirations. You can choose to take that plan and implement it on your own, with someone else, or with professionals I recommend; the plan is completely portable. What I provide is a service, not a product, and we’ll have an ongoing relationship and commitment that does not stop with one or two meetings. I evaluate the effectiveness of your plan periodically and meet with you to make sure the plan is being followed and executed to your satisfaction. Periodic meetings are important because life changes. My focus is on listening to you, absorbing all your desires, and servicing them to my fullest abilities.

I’m Michael, a Certified Financial Plannerᵀᴹ Certificant, and Chartered Financial Analystᵀᴹ Charterholder. I am married to the hardest working woman I know, and have three beautiful children. We currently reside in Florence, MA along with our two dogs. My happy family is what I consider my greatest achievement, and it is for them that I started in financial services, and now I want to help others care for their families. Before, I had no financial plan and had to ask myself tough questions: What happens if I decease my wife and children prematurely? How will they be taken care of? What if I were to be sick or sustain an injury outside of work for a prolonged period? Am I saving enough money for their education, and my own retirement? It was these questions, among others, that brought me to where I am today. It is my job to work collaboratively with you and give sound financial advice to help maximize your financial goals.

It would be my pleasure to work with you on navigating your financial journey, so please, contact me today and let me set up a no-cost preliminary introduction and fact-finding meeting. I would love to get to know more about you and those you care about.

Thank you!

Kevin Lao, CFP®

About Kevin Lao, CFP®

Kevin was born and raised in Northern Virginia. His father immigrated from Burma (Myanmar) at the age of 20 thanks to his Grandfather sending he and his brothers to school abroad. Kevin’s mother has roots from Austria with ties from an old royal family. While attending college, Kevin knew he wanted to pursue a career where he could make an impact on others. Kevin spent the next 12 years working for two different Fortune 500 Financial Services companies and loved the ability to truly help people and make a difference in their lives. He knew, however, the conflicts of interests inherent with large Broker Dealers was affecting his ability to act as a true Fiduciary and making a bigger impact in his client’s lives. As a result, he founded Imagine Financial Security to eliminate those conflicts of interests and work as a fee only Financial Planner and Investment Advisor. He loves to work with individuals and families that are approaching Retirement age, or who are already retired, to help inspire new meaning around their Financial Goals. He also has a big passion for financial literacy for young families, as he has a young family of his own. He is married to Jessica, and they have three boys together; Tristan, Julian and Jackson. They have three rescue dogs; Achilles, Nelly and Guinness. When Kevin has spare time, he loves to spend it with family on adventures locally and abroad, enjoys golfing, fishing, cooking, and watching sports. He also is passionate about helping youth at risk, which is why he joined Big Brothers and Big Sisters as a Big Brother, and is a member of the Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Northeast Florida Big Impact Society.

Bill Nelson, CFP®, CFT-I™

About Bill Nelson, CFP®, CFT-I™

I started Pacesetter Planning back in 2016 to help couples use their money to create the lives they love – together. I work best with two types of couples:

➡️ Engaged and newlywed couples looking to prepare for their future by setting themselves up for financial success and minimizing the risk of money conflict in their new marriage.
➡️ Couples who fight about money or struggle to make financially-related decisions as a team.

I am a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ and Certified Financial Therapist-Level I™ Practitioner. I care about the “why” behind your money just as much as “what” you do with it. More importantly, I want you and your spouse to feel confident and empowered by the way you manage money as a team such that your finances become an asset to your relationship, rather than a liability. (See what I did there?)

Numerous studies have shown that financial conflict is pervasive in American marriages and is one of the leading indicators of divorce. There’s no denying that the way you manage money with your spouse can be detrimental to your marriage. But I believe that the opposite is equally true – if you improve the way you manage your finances with your spouse, your marriage will get stronger. I’m here to show you how to make this a reality.
