Derek Finley, CFP®

About Derek Finley, CFP®

As a second generation financial advisor with over a decade of wealth management experience, I’ve helped clients retire, build businesses, survive financial panics and make countless decisions that impacted not just my clients, but their families for generations.

My career began with the housing and financial collapse in 2008. I’ve seen the market drop over 50%, then rebound, then seesaw back and forth. I have been there for the survivors when a client passes away, and have seen the joy from clients who hear that their retirement dream is now a reality.

My clients have been people at different stages of life and in different careers: young families, widows, CEOs, physicians, engineers, small business owners, retirees, and more. I’ve had difficult conversations with those that needed to hear the unvarnished truth, and have encouraged others to pursue their dreams, no matter how extreme.

I am a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional, and graduated from Texas Tech University with a degree in Personal Financial Planning.

What am I not?

I am not perfect. I have made financial mistakes, and understand the weight that comes from having to own up to them. I also understand they can be overcome with courage and the relentless pursuit of a better life.

I am not an investment soothsayer. I cannot tell you what will happen in the market tomorrow, or next week, or this year. What I can do is help you clarify your vision of the future, and provide paths and processes to making that future a reality. There will be days where you have doubts, and I will be there to provide balance and insight.

More than anything, I understand God’s purpose in giving us families and the church, and that each of us have a role to play in building up the saints. My goal, and the goal of this firm, is to help you make financial and life decisions that align with your mission, and support you in growing and strengthening your family, church and community.

Evergreen Financial Group is a fee-only Financial Planning and Investment Management fiduciary, specializing in Christian families including young professionals, and current and future retirees.

Similar to an Evergreen tree, we believe our financial relationships should be steady and unwavering in all seasons.[1] As a fee-only financial planner/investment manager, we have a fiduciary responsibility to put our clients’ best interests first. During every step of their financial careers we guide our clients along the path to financial success and freedom. Unlike your traditional financial services firm, we redefine the typical client advisor relationship. We seek to partner with clients in ways that are modern, meaningful and long lasting. Together, we build long-lasting financial relationships that flourish and grow.

[1] ] Psalm 1:3 – That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season, and whose leaf does not wither—whatever they do prospers.

About Matthew Stearns, CFP®, CKA®, RICP®

Welcome to Millennial, a modern financial planning firm, focused on biblical stewardship. We work with households of all ages and small-business owners to help them align their wealth and financial plan with God’s desire. We do this through biblically responsible investing, charitable giving planning, Christian life planning, and everything that comes along with it.

Our mission is to use our financial expertise and our training from Kingdom Advisors, to help you steward your money for Kingdom purposes. We are skilled investment managers, but also focus our efforts on thoughtful giving and purposeful living.

After starting my firm as a full-service investment company in 2017, I realized the potential to deliver much more important results besides investment results and net worth. While the Gospel message is not one of poverty and struggle, we challenge our clients to think beyond just wealth accumulation. We partner with the National Christian Foundation as a platform to facilitate charitable giving as well as a platform to invest and grow assets dedicated for giving in the future.

On a personal note, I am an avid golfer and outdoorsman. In 2016 my brother and I completed a thru-hike of the Pacific Crest Trail and frequently hike in our current “neck of the woods”. I spend much of my free time traveling with friends whom I met on my two semesters studying abroad in Germany and Hong Kong. I am a regular member of Saegertown United Methodist Church and serve on the Financial Advisory Committee.

About Christopher Wells, CFP®, CKA®, MS

Hello! We are Flourish Financial Planning. A group of tax-focused Financial Planners with a vision to empower Christian families, small business owners, and pastors to use their finances as a tool to live a flourishing life.

An eternal mindset and biblical perspective form the foundation of our financial beliefs. It is important to address the heart behind your relationship with money instead of trying to force behaviors or plans. Not only does this lead to better outcomes, it is also Biblically supported by Jesus’ teaching in the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5-7) when He emphasizes the motives of the heart vs. outward action. See our Biblical Stewardship and Generosity Guide to see more of what we believe and how it affects our life.

In our team of financial professionals, we have the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER TM designation (CFP®), Certified Kingdom Advisor® designation, Enrolled Agent (EA), and Masters Degrees in Financial Services. We are a Fee-Only Advisory Firm, meaning we do not get paid to recommend any financial product.

Donovan Brooks, CFP®, CKA®

About Donovan Brooks, CFP®, CKA®

Hi I’m Donovan! I’ve worked in the financial services industry for about a decade with half of those years at a broker dealer where the firm and client interests were constantly at odds. I wanted to change that by serving clients differently.

In 2015, I launched Storyline Financial Planning as a way of doing that. Along the way I realized that there weren’t many options for Christians to get personalized financial advice that aligned with their beliefs, so I leaned into that.

Today, I have the privilege of guiding Christians in aligning their personal finances with their faith, planning for the meaningful things in life, and achieving true financial freedom.

Do you:

-Suspect that you can be managing your resources better?

-Lack clear direction or vision?

-Have little progress to show?

These are some questions that I help address with clients. Consequently, we’re able to create a personalized plan that that empowers you in each of these areas.

I love that I get to serve Christians in a way that empowers them towards honorable stewardship. And through this transformative process we get to honor God with how we steward all that He has entrusted to us.

Since launching Storyline Financial Planning, I’ve been quoted in numerous publications and have been recognized as an Investopedia Top 100 Advisor.

I’m a proud graduate of the Booth School of Business at Northwest Missouri State University and the executive certificate program at the University of Georgia for financial planning.

In addition, I hold the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ and Certified Kingdom Advisor® designations — exemplifying my commitment to the highest standards of integrity and professionalism in the industry all while incorporating biblical wisdom.

When I’m not creating financial plans you can typically find me with my family dancing, being goofy, or adventuring.
