About Tim Woodward, CFP®, MBA

So, at Blend Wealth we aim to help organize and simplify your wealth building journey.

You deserve to feel confident in your future so that you can spend more time doing things that fulfill you. That’s why we partner with you to advise and manage your finances, so you can focus more on your family. We help guide you through accumulating wealth, protecting your wealthTi and ultimately transferring your wealth; all for HIS glory. From implementing charitable giving, to saving for your child’s education, to planning for vacations – we’re here to help blend it all together so you can achieve true wealth.

At Blend Wealth, we define true wealth as having deep, meaningful, relationships combined with the financial freedom to pour into those relationships. We take a collaborative approach to our process. We crunch the numbers, educate you and make recommendations for you and your family to consider. No jargon. No pressure. Just a straightforward approach that prioritizes communication and helps you get from where you are, to where you want to be, both relationally and financially.

Outside of work you will find me outdoors, doing CrossFit, serving at church and most importantly, spending quality time and staying active with my wife, Alexis, and our boys, Conner and Christian.

Derek Finley, CFP®

About Derek Finley, CFP®

As a second generation financial advisor with over a decade of wealth management experience, I’ve helped clients retire, build businesses, survive financial panics and make countless decisions that impacted not just my clients, but their families for generations.

My career began with the housing and financial collapse in 2008. I’ve seen the market drop over 50%, then rebound, then seesaw back and forth. I have been there for the survivors when a client passes away, and have seen the joy from clients who hear that their retirement dream is now a reality.

My clients have been people at different stages of life and in different careers: young families, widows, CEOs, physicians, engineers, small business owners, retirees, and more. I’ve had difficult conversations with those that needed to hear the unvarnished truth, and have encouraged others to pursue their dreams, no matter how extreme.

I am a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional, and graduated from Texas Tech University with a degree in Personal Financial Planning.

What am I not?

I am not perfect. I have made financial mistakes, and understand the weight that comes from having to own up to them. I also understand they can be overcome with courage and the relentless pursuit of a better life.

I am not an investment soothsayer. I cannot tell you what will happen in the market tomorrow, or next week, or this year. What I can do is help you clarify your vision of the future, and provide paths and processes to making that future a reality. There will be days where you have doubts, and I will be there to provide balance and insight.

More than anything, I understand God’s purpose in giving us families and the church, and that each of us have a role to play in building up the saints. My goal, and the goal of this firm, is to help you make financial and life decisions that align with your mission, and support you in growing and strengthening your family, church and community.

Phil Patten, CFP®, RICP

About Phil Patten, CFP®, RICP

My financial career started straight out of college where I worked with Northwestern Mutual for 6 years. However, things started to change for me in the summer of 2017 as I studied the Parable of the Talents (Matthew 25:14-30) before work at Starbucks. As I studied the scripture, I realized my foundation for managing finances was built on sand.

Let me tell you more about my foundation. In high school, I was driving in the car with my dad listening to Dave Ramsey discuss Roth IRAs. This made me interested in accruing wealth because of the amount of money I could have later on in life (not a bad thing right?!). This mindset stayed with me until the summer of 2017, when I realized it was a bad thing…for me.

Has someone ever taught you something NEW about a Scripture you’ve known all your life?? Well that’s what happened for me in the summer of 2017. My teacher was the Holy Spirit and the Scripture was Matthew 25:14-30. I am sure you are familiar with the Scripture but Jesus is teaching about the Kingdom through a parable. The story is about a wealthy man who gives three servants three amounts of money to manage. Two of them double what they received and the third buried his in the ground. I could write a message here but let me boil it down to the main idea the Holy Spirit taught me:

There is a difference between being an owner of your finances and being a manager.

From this point, God took me on a (difficult but necessary) journey to renew my mind around finances (both personally and professionally). And ultimately He led me to build Pursuit Financial.

Kyle Eaton, CFP®, CDFA®

About Kyle Eaton, CFP®, CDFA®

Education

I attended Oklahoma State University, where I played for the OSU Cowboys football team. Most of my time was spent on the practice field—Hedge field—preparing for fall Saturdays. Although most people only saw what happened on Saturday, it was on Hedge field that the truly important occurred. I learned the importance of setting and achieving my personal goals, working through adversity, and being part of something bigger than myself. Learning these disciplines was as valuable as any college degree that I earned.

While at Oklahoma State, I earned my Masters in Family Financial Planning. You might wonder, “How does this make me different from your run-of-the-mill financial advisor or planner?” The program that I completed was in the college that studied the science of the human environment, not the business college. It included studying family systems and counseling, both elements that taught me how to look beyond the portfolio to the person.

Beliefs

I live in Denton with my wife Rachel and four children—Kyrie, Adelynn, Elias, and Titus. I believe that all skills and talents I have are God-given, to be used for His glory. For this reason, I strive for excellence. I want my work to reflect my beliefs. I also believe that all people are created in the image of God. Therefore, everyone has inherit value and worth no matter their lot in life. They deserve to be treated that way.

Finally, I believe that of whom much is given, much is expected. It is what drove me to become a two-time Verizon Academic All-American and National Football Foundation National Scholar-Athlete in college. It is what continues to drive me each day of my life. This is my personal why. It is why I get out of bed each morning. And it is for these reasons that I founded Hedgefield. It is why I want Hedgefield to be an agent of change in the lives of women and the community as a whole. One of my deepest desires is to encourage others to figure out their own why. And not only discover their own why, but also use their resources to pursue it wholeheartedly.

Terry O’Grady, CFP®, CKA®

About Terry O’Grady, CFP®, CKA®

I’m Terence O’Grady. But most folks call me Terry.

I grew up in St. Petersburg, FL, the oldest of three kids in what I’ve concluded was a relatively typical middle-class American family. My parents joined a tennis club so we could all use the pool. Once we found the tennis courts though, we never dipped a toe.

I never imagined that I’d be in financial services, much less a CFP® professional. What kid dreams of being a financial planner? I wanted to be like Jim Reed, the cool cop on Adam-12.

In need of a gig, I took a call center job with T. Rowe Price. Despite how much fun those Discover Card phone reps seem to be having with their doppelgänger, fielding phone calls all day was not my lifelong dream.

Now I’m a Registered Investment Adviser. Technically I’m an Investment Adviser Representative of a Registered Investment Adviser (RIA). In this case, it’s one and the same. I’m the firm’s owner, the RIA, O’Grady Financial LLC, and the Investment Adviser Representative.

There’s no longer a manager telling what to do, what to sell, and who I should sell it to. No products to push or quotas to make. As a fiduciary, I’m legally bound to do what is in the best interest of my clients.

A chance encounter at an industry conference in Boston one summer opened my eyes to a new outlook on handling finances. New to me anyway.

I’m Christian and have led Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University at my church a few times. But it wasn’t until I met a group of fellow advisors, part of Kingdom Advisors®, that it hit me. It’s all God’s anyway. We’re just trying to be the best managers of the assets He’s entrusted to us while we’re here.

Like most advisors, when it came to investments, I focused on Modern Portfolio Theory, asset allocation, and aligning risk tolerance with appropriate portfolios. I never gave a second thought to what the underlying companies did, promoted, or practiced as long as their returns were comparable to accepted standards.

But maybe what we’re invested in is as much or an even more critical part of the process. That’s what Biblically Responsible Investing (BRI) is all about. Do the companies you’re investing in, either directly or through mutual funds, align with your values?

I can filter out the companies that participate in the industries that don’t honor God and screen in those that do. We can match a portfolio to your values, beliefs, and convictions. A portfolio that honors and worships God.

I’m not a theologian or Bible scholar. Never been to seminary. But as a CFP® professional, I’ve been trained in the techniques our culture uses to handle money. I’m digging deeper into the principles God wants us to use to manage his money. Techniques may change. Principles remain. If you’d like a seat on this journey, I’d be honored to be your guide.

Chelsea Rude, CFP®, MPAS®

About Chelsea Rude, CFP®, MPAS®, APMA®, EA

Education & Designations
I have a bit of a healthy obsession with learning. I grew up in Richland County and attended High School in Noble. I am a proud graduate of Olney Central College, where I now get the pleasure of serving on the Foundation Board. I received my B.S. in Finance from Eastern Illinois University and my Masters in Personal Financial Planning from CFFP. Along the way, I’ve earned a few other designations. I am a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ Professional as well as an Enrolled Agent. I am working towards earning the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®) designation, and I am currently a level II candidate. Outside of my work as an advisor, I teach courses in business and finance at Vincennes University.

Work History
While in college I worked for a couple of banks, but my first position with true financial planning experience was with a firm in Urbana, IL in 2010. I consider myself blessed to have avoided the insurance sales or door knocking gigs so many “advisors” start out with. At Franklin Wealth Advisors, I was able to learn from an expert with several decades of experience and an undeniable passion for the work. At the end of 2014, I left FWA to move back home to Richland County and join TrustBank.
From the end of 2014 to Spring 2021, I worked for TrustBank. While there, I provided financial planning services, managed the investment assets for the Trust department, and lead the IL Wealth Management team. I worked with families in all stages of life to develop and implement plans to achieve their goals. At the end of 2020, I decided it was time to move on and begin plans for a new journey – starting my own firm. My goal for Rude Wealth Advisory is to narrow my focus to a smaller group of clients, allowing me to provide a superior level of personalized service.

Personal / Family
My husband, Bill, and I have been together since 2010 and married since 2013. We are both originally from Richland County, so the decision to move “home” in 2014 was mutual. We have two kids, Olivia & Henry, and are grateful to have both sets of grandparents along with siblings, cousins, aunts, uncles, etc. living close by. As a family, we love being active outside and traveling to new places.

My “Why”
Our work plays a critical role in our identities, whether we realize it or not. It brings to light our strengths and weaknesses and provides affirmation of our life’s purpose. We all have unlimited potential to positively impact others, and I consider myself blessed to have found the connection between providing value to others and meaning to myself in such a rewarding field. I’ve always had a passion for numbers and business. When inside the wrapper of helping families reach their goals, this work is even more fulfilling.
