Marcus Blanchard, CFP®, WCMP

About Marcus Blanchard, CFP®, WCMP, ChFC

Hi, I’m Marcus Blanchard, Founder of Focal Point Financial Planning.

I first became interested in finance as my initial enlistment in the United States Marine Corps was drawing to a close. I couldn’t help but notice the drastic differences in how people viewed money and how they used it. Upon exiting military service with an Honorable Discharge and two deployments (1st to southern Helmand Province, Afghanistan – 2nd to Okinawa & Phillippines), I began my studies for a Bachelor’s degree in Personal Financial Planning.

After graduation, I also earned the Certified Financial Planner (CFP®), Wealth Management Certified Professional (WMCP®), & Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC®) designations to further my understanding of financial planning and tax-efficient investments. I love learning different ways to help clients, which is why I say that “I’m a nerd in your corner!”

I have worked for both large and small financial firms and after a while, decided I needed to serve clients at a higher level, my way. In my eyes, the complex issues business owners deal with & the tax implications of retiring were not being adequately addressed. With the support of my lovely wife Katie, I founded Focal Point Financial Planning, LLC. Now I can better serve clients by looking where other advisors won’t, creating custom tax-saving strategies and financial plans, maintaining focus on how you want to live your life.

I am excited to work together and help you live life on your terms.

About Jay Zigmont, CFP®, PhD

I grew up broke. I was never taught how to manage money. I earned my first million by the time I was 21 and spent it before I was 25.

It wasn’t until much later that I learned how to manage and invest my money. I know you can learn too.

I have been a coach in all areas of business and life for over a decade. I have a PhD in Adult Learning from the University of Connecticut. I am a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™. I am Fee-Only and work on a monthly retainer model.

The bottom line is I have the experience and training to help anyone learn how to manage their money and achieve financial freedom.

About Jenna VanLeeuwen, CFP®

As my MeeMaw says, my family knows how to squeeze a penny until it breaks. However, as an adult, I’ve learned that being good with money goes far beyond frugality.

Since then, I’ve learned true wealth is about using your resources — money, time, energy — to live with a sense of purpose and possibility. There’s a rare kind of magic in feeling like you have the skills and financial security to live according to your priorities. I want the same for you.

Whether it’s taking that dream trip, working less so you can spend more time with your family, or scaling up your business to impact more people, we’re here to help you make it happen.

Max Pashman, CFP®

About Max Pashman, CFP®

Would you ever go to a doctor and be OK if their recommendation was incentivized by the size of their check? Or by what’s actually going to solve your health problem? As obvious as this might sound, it’s not so obvious in the financial industry. As an independent fee-only company, Pashman Financial has a fiduciary obligation to always put your best interest first.

The reality is the financial industry has gotten a bad rep after the amount of distrust it has laid on it’s customers. Your priorities should be addressed by what’s best for your needs versus focusing on how large someone can cash from you. Unfortunately, the traditional business model in the financial industry has not been set up as such. Versus jumping right into a traditional advisor role, Max decided to first invest his time learning more about the industry. He did so by working for a number of successful teams that guided him towards the appropriate steps towards understanding the financial planning process over time. During his training, he assisted hundreds of households to get them closer towards their financial goals and also obtained his Series 7, Series 66, and life + health license.

By the time he gained the appropriate knowledge, he started building his own book of business and established a successful online network to push financial education to his followers. While advising clients at One Wealth Management, Max had begun to understand how he truly wanted to create the best financial planning for his clients. He realized in order to better serve his existing and upcoming clients, he had to transform his business into a truly fiduciary model. After obtaining his CFP designation, he founded Pashman Financial as a fee-only company built on that promise.

Today, Max currently assists sales professionals with organizing their paychecks. He focuses on helping sales professionals with financial planning surrounding their commission checks, exploring their individual options, utilizing their company benefits, and understanding their stock options. You worked hard for your hard-earned dollars. Now make them work even harder for you.

Joe Bautista, CFP®

About Joe Bautista, CFP®

Joe Bautista grew up in Sandy, Oregon, and is the son of two blue-collar parents. He also has two sisters that are entrepreneurs themselves.

At 18, he joined the United States Marine Corps as a Supply Administrator and served 7 years, while being stationed in Kaneohe Bay, HI, Okinawa, Japan, Al Asad, Iraq, and Portland, Oregon.

Joe Bautista has always had a passion for numbers and money. He saw that his parents struggled with money and thought it was from a lack of knowledge and available resources to improve their financial situation in the 1990s. After moving to Washington, DC in 2012 and meeting other first and second-generation Latinos dealing with the same issue, he decided to become a financial planner.

In 2015, Joe Bautista began his financial planning career at a national company that was a Broker-Dealer and Registered Investment Advisory Firm. After studying the history of financial advisors and learning about the industry, he noticed that the old model was outdated. So he decided to open up his own virtual financial planning firm that utilizes the subscription model to help him focus on young professionals with income minimal investable assets to manage. This allows him to live in Latin America so he can finish his goal of learning Spanish.

He is also the author of More You Know, More You Grow, and Your Daily Cup of Joe, and is currently in an MBA program at Syracuse University. He also has two bachelor’s degrees in Public Health and Economics.
